Had mine installed today. My Indy shop wouldn't do them and am annoyed at that but whatever. A guy I work with took care of it in 10-15 mins. I will post pix soon. Also got some news emblems and subs to show off
Agree with an earlier post about not making that much difference. I'm still glad I did it though as those were the only pieces of chrome left on my car. |

Do u prep the stock exhaust tips with anything? Is a mallet needed? Do the grooves align with the weld points for the oEM connection?

No prep needed on stock exhaust tips. They are going to get marred up once you press the new ones on. No mallet needed. You can easily align by eye. After getting all of the tabs bent in the new tips, it really only took me like 5 minutes to put them on. It's incredibly easy.

Job complete. I ended up clipping the bottom of the tabs. I tried simply bending them down initially, but they weren't straightening much. If you cut the ends you do have to be careful not to rip off the tabs in their entirety as you have to bend them up in order to cut the bottoms off. To tell you the truth, even if the tabs are not completely straightened out (as mine weren't) I think that's probably better as it's more of a snug fit. You'll just have to push them on harder. I'm not a very technical guy and I was able to do this on my own. Pictures of the process attached.

As I mentioned earlier I ordered the stainless ones by accident from AliExpress. Instead of returning them and getting a replacement I took them to the local powder coat place and got them done in gloss black.
Car is at body shop getting repaired from someone rear ending me. I will post pics of the final result! |

Starting to feel bad for recommending these now as the finish on the mouth of my tips is deteriorating (a lot) already. Ceramic coated and only wash with soap and water, so no chemicals. I've reached out to the company to see what my options are. I'm thinking I'll have to get them powder coated and hopefully that holds up better. Hope everyone else's hold up better. Pretty bummed.

Exhaust is very acidic....hard to stop discoloration and deterioration. Stayed with stock chrome and "Brasso" (old army buddy)

That's definitely not normal. Can't imagine what they will look like in six months. Interested to see what Mode will come back with. Mine don't have the "Mode" logo on them, but I doubt it makes a difference in wear/tear.

You can get the stock tips remarkably clean with Soft Scrub or Barkeepers friend too. I did that originally when I first got my M. I'm shocked dealers don't take more time to clean them prior to sale. Ever picture you see of the ones for sale have soot covered outside exhaust tips.

I know the feeling, it's only 28 degrees out right now in Northern VA, and my X5M could use a bath as well.
