Xhp Transmission tune for F85/F86 now available

I'm not affiliated with them in any way but i stopped by their website and saw their transmission tunes are finally available for our platform. Previously I only saw the Xdelete being available. Anyone tried the transmission tunes out yet? I might just pull the trigger.

If you pull the trigger, definitely let us know what you think.

Bought and flashed stage 2. Initial impressions:
Feels like more power in lower gears for sure but i also haven't driven it in weeks so always feels like a rocket ship when i dont drive for a while.

S3 Bangs gears hard In manual and feels like more power in any gear in lower rpm. I was getting big wheel slip in first gears but its also cold out so traction is none existent.

Otherwise smooth as butter driving normally and in D modes either manually or auto. Shift definitely happens faster in d modes too. Overall first impressions favorable so far.

For price is say go for it. Flash was fast and painless, and xhp has a great rep. I'll put more miles on it and maybe flash stage 3 soon.

Be safe friends!

Couple questions since I don't mod other than the usual things.

How does this differ from normal tunes, or does it not? I run DME's stage 2 so would I benefit from this over theirs?

299 euro which was 450ish cdn. You have to buy a flash license and ots map pack like bm3

Well this flashes the tcu where shift logic, pressures, and timing are defined among torque mgt controls. 8hp75 transmissions are torque request/ demand systems so the dme ecu commanded and requested torque values are also a big part of shift performance, so ideally you want to have your ecu and tcu done together by your tuner, however bm3 ots guys this is a great option.

Thank you. That was informative.

When I asked DME about transmission tuning they said they don't touch it. So theoretically I could run both this and DME as long as DME truly doesn't touch transmission parameters?

Exactly right. Only a few tuners do the tcu at this time so unless they explicitly told you it was done you will likely benefit from this. . It's done through a different flash process than the ecu hence the need for xhp.

I don't see the reason to do a DCT tune without an engine tune. For example, I had an MHD tune on my M4 for both DCT and engine, but it paired well together. I did the DCT tune so there would be more aggressive shift points with the increased power.

We don't have DCT , we have an 8hp75 ZF 8 speed torque converter base auto. Stock engine tune or not, this would be beneficial. Conversely I would say if you have tuned the ECU, then I think a TCU tune is pretty much mandatory to allow for increased holding pressure to add longevity to the trans, and deliver more power to the tires by reducing transmission losses. Add in the changes to shift logic, reduced torque limitations, this then becomes a no brainier.

I hear some folks talk about having too much torque at low RPMs with ecu tunes. For example, the ecu is tuned such that torque is delivered linearly and is delivered too much at low RPMs.

Seems like this would make this concern worse? I am a little beyond my knowledge level here so forgive me.

Not sure who is complaining about too much torque, but it ain't me! For real though, if you're driving in comfort its barely noticable other than distinct faster shifts from normal comfort/d1. Get on it hard in S3 from a stop and it pulls like hell and bangs gears hard. I will continue to test, flash stage 3 for comparison and try LC to see how it pulls

Depending on your tastes, you might find the shifting "harsh: in sport plus, but mechanically no drawbacks. In fact it will probably help longevity of the transmission clutches and brakes.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. Time to look into this more seriously!

If you are under warranty, will the dealer notice? Nice thing about BM3 is you can flash back to stock and lock the DME...

That doesn't prevent the dealer from knowing it was flashed at all. Same goes for xhp, you can flash it back to stock, but counter increments so they will Obie
Know if they care to look.
