Finish your payments and be happy with what you have. There will always be a newer, fancier model coming out.

Its never ending.

Another $45K???? Pretty sure the M is not worth $45K on top of the 50i. If it's that much of a difference, I'd pass without even blinking.

Yeah, you make a good point. Ugh, really want an M, but this car really is enough ATM. I did put it in Sport+ this weekend a bit and did the shifting myself and was like "this is brutally fast and I haven't even modded it, maybe I'm good for a while."

I think many of your wants can be accomplished via retrofitting here and there.
Fair points - the only thing I'd quibble with is I absolutely hate the G series, it's way to enormous and boring/detached. Don't see myself getting one. But I could definitely wait a couple more years and get a lightly tickled X3MC for like $45K.

You should probably go for it honestly, especially if the $ isn't an issue. The only other thing I'd consider is that at that price point you can get a very nice Cayenne so you might want to cross shop them before final decision.

For some reason I don't want the Cayenne at all. IF I went Porsche, I would go Macan GTS or Macan Turbo. Smaller, better handling, still practical but arguably the perfect SUV to drive. I don't necessarily need the little bit of extra space the X5 provides over the Macan.

Side note: the Macan Turbo was less than 2 seconds off the M2 Competition time on a track with many turns, so the performance and handling is suuuuper impressive. And yeah, if I'm honest, I've got an open search for Macan GTS and Macan Turbos as well.

Might go with one or the other (Macan or X5 M).

I wanted a Macan too but I also wanted all of the lux features and options that are easier to find on the X5. I could totally endorse a GTS or Turbo (I was gonna get the S), please get the RS spyder wheels.

Hey guys,

I have a 2015 F15 40d which I bought when it was 3.5 years old. I know it is no X5M but it does put a smile on my face every time compared to when I sit in my partner's car

During COVID we've all been trapped in our cocoons but I have been looking at cars. Split between getting a 3 year old M3/M4, or keeping my car, paying off the finance and getting some mods.

Any/all thoughts welcome!

RS Spyder wheels are the only way to go if you get a Macan.

Just curious - did you get the corrosion issue in the center of your M 469 wheels? We've got them bad, luckily don't bother the wife too much.

Absolutely in love with it. Do not like the new X5 AT ALL.

In addition, my 50i is LOADED with options (see original thread here: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1562410) and only has about 45k miles on it still, despite being a 2015 car.

That said, I'm already considering trading it in for a 2018 X5M or a 2020 X3M Competition.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't love my car, I absolutely do. And the light mods I've done so far have been subtle, but perfect. But I'm finding myself wanting the power, speed, seats (oh god, the seats are so sexy) and extra goodies (exhaust, rear end, front end, mirrors, etc, etc) that come with having an M. Moreover, and this is a minor thing, but I'd love to have the newer infotainment system BMW released in 2018 for the F15 (and, of course, even newer and better in the 2020 X3M) - mine feels crappy & dated at this point. Not to mention lack of wireless charging for the phone.

Additional benefits to the X3M Comp are newer tech everywhere, and about 700lbs lighter, so much improved handling (not to mention the suspension upgrades that go along with that).

Pros to keeping my car: I love it, it's low mileage, is almost paid off (I now owe less than $10K on it), nothing whatsoever wrong with it, and of course easy to mod to get to the power of an X5M.

What to do.....
I would say just get some KWs on your 50i and get that thing paid off. My philosophy on cars is if I can't pay cash for it I can't afford it. Also the andream CarPlay is a great tech upgrade if you're an apple guy.
