NEW BRAKES, x5m f85 2015, front pads with sensor, 100km already, NO SQUEEK, not OEM

will update after about 400km or so, that is about one week from now, i am in ottawa so the weather is pretty crappy, these are NOT oem bmw part, i will save the details after i can confirm i have no sqeek, last thing i want to do is get people all worked up and ordering stuff that actually doesn't work.

duss brothers did the install this morning, there was no fitment issue. i did research the brakes and came across a vendor in USA, ran the part numbers adn stuff with them and had no issue in installing them.

more to come, the weather is crap here below zero with salt and snow,

did only pads, and sensor as rotors had tons of meat.

gd

UPDATES:
200km no squeak, various braking from 100km to about 30, very strong pedal bite as you engage the pedal further, feels like that eye popping braking and clamping that my M3 has too in dry.
more to come

What i will do is report back on km, any noises and as well if there were any issues with wet stopping or when dried off etc. i will try to give as much feedback as i can, if i can edit this post i will just keep editing it every few days. You don't understand the bullshit i went through to get parts in canada, these cost me about 200 cdn dollars plus shipping so it was 280.00 after HST and shipping.

UPDATES 3000KM:

No issues, no noise or squeeking. hawk hb835z front pads.

FINAL UPDATE: AUGUST 2019

ZERO ISSUES WITH NOISE, the pads are soft though so it does feel like you have to press harder in cooler weather just an fyi.

Hmm sorry but the odds you found a set of pads that haven't been discussed is slim my friend. But if you think you did do share so that others may do some research themselves. Trust me Noones going to run off and buy em after 200 km. Most still buying oem and they squeal to high heaven. Even the new ones still squeal. Lol

I'm pretty sure I used Hawk Performance Ceramic pads in a 6-piston StopTech setup for street use on my M3 with good luck - minimal dust, no squealing. I don't recall these being available for the X5M when I searched for pad options a month or two ago? Might be a recent release? Overpriced for a street pad IMO, but if the Power Stop Z23 or Z26 pads aren't available soon for the front (as promised by Power Stop reps) I may have to bite the bullet. Thanks for sharing.

i just installed these on my '17 F85 per suggestion of JimmyZ06 and there are no issues after a week of driving. Pedal is a bit softer than before but no squeaking at all and no dust.. no issues with fitment either..

Here are the part numbers and amazon links.. total cost little over $100 for both

Front: Power Stop Z23-1648 Z23 Evolution Sport Carbon Fiber Infused Ceramic Brake Pad (F10 M5 pads)

Thanks for the info. Softer pedal doesn't sound great. Is it significant?

How did you bed them in? Have you pushed them to see if they fade after a few hard stops? Thanks.

Honestly its not significant. It was only felt on the first drive after that it was much less.. the shop who installed them bed them in and i'm going to drive carefully next 400-500 miles and avoid hard braking. So far so good! OEM brakes were squealing like a pig 24/7 couldn't take it anymore.. and whoever says BMW will fix it.. hahah good luck with that..

Plenty of vids and articles on bedding in brakes. It's all the same. Several iterations of braking from high speeds. 60-20, 60-20, 60-20 so on and so forth give or take. Just don't come to complete stop with them really hot and if you have to stop then try and engine brake until they cool.

Just drive it normally for a couple hundred miles. Carbon Fiber Ceramic pads are just fine for the street in my humble opinion. I now have well over 3500 miles on these pads and they're phuggin' awesome!

Great to hear. I agree that Carbon Fiber Ceramic pads are fine for street use.

From Powerstop on Monday re: X5M front pad availability.

"I will get with you tomorrow morning on the ETA on the Z23 series brake pads. We just started stocking the Z16 series brake pad so we should be seeing the Z23 series."

Still waiting on the ETA.

Thank you. Ordering the Akebono soon. Any issues / worries with getting the F10 M5 pads? I realize they're a slightly different size from the F85 pads, even though I seem some others have run these same pads on their M's. No grinding the pad down or anything? Amazon says those won't fit the X5 platform, but I feel like that's because it doesn't allow you to select the M as a sub-model.

i've had them on for a month zero issues, zero squeaks, and zero dust.. same amount of dust that was on there since the install is still there.. if these were OEM pads, month later wheels are unrecognizable..
