Easy Care Warrant Experience?

Does anyone here have experience with EasyCare extended warranty? Want to get it on a new car I just purchased wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them and how they are.

Expensive and have always heard good things about them. Make sure you get an exclusionary warranty though not to mention feedback from your local BMW service department

The go-to for AMG's. I didn't even know they warrantied M's!

Very good warranty.

For sure get exclusionary policy.

Unfortunately the exclusionary warranty price is ridiculously high. I have to go with the Power care which pretty much covers the drivetrain.

Interesting. Curious though, did you get any feedback from your local BMW service department regarding this company?

My local BMW is the one selling me the warranty and said that is the only third party warranty they sell. So I feel their opinion maybe very biased since they are the ones selling it and making the commission.

I had EasyCare on my E60 M5 back around 2010. I bought it from my BMW dealer and they were great. My car was fully modded and I never had any issues getting maintenance and repair work done. Only had to deal with my SA and they took care of everything.

I forgot how much I paid for the initial 3yrs/36K miles of coverage outside the factory warranty but I recall it was reasonable. But when that period was up, they wanted about $7200 for 2yrs/24K miles so I declined. Three months later, my rod bearings went out and I needed new engine.

The good companies will have the data behind the numbers (cost). They are entitled to some profit as well for their efforts, otherwise what's the point. We have line of sight into what fails on the cars through these forums (if I'm a warranty company I'm paying close attention as one other data source) so I'm not super surprised $7k for 2 years. If one major system fails like a transfer case, most of the of the 7k is used up.

Personal thoughts are timely and meticulous maintenance should prevent major system failures, and the 7k in ones bank to address the unexpected/maintenance is a better plan.

I agree with you and wasn't complaining that they were overcharging. I'm sure they raised the fees as more info came in on all the potential problems with the S85 (SMG, Vanos, actuators, rod bearings...).

I already had my clutch and actuators replaced at that point and didn't really know much about rod bearing failures so I figured I'll cover any repair costs out of pocket.

Oh didn't mean to insinuate you were complaining. No worries. Just putting some some insurance industry perspective (P&C). Some folks tend to have a warped expectation of insurance in that they expect they get their money 'back', with no allowance for the concept of significant risk taking by the issuer of the promise/paper.

Everyone has different risk tolerances, so in the end it's personal preference. I offset my out of warranty concerns with the fact I can turn a wrench a bit and 5-7k would go a long way if I needed a shop repair or parts. Thus I would rather control my repairs.

All IMO...

So here is the update. I ended up getting the Easy Care warranty for my x5m. They gave me an extremely good price for 6 years from today up to 100k miles. I spoke to a couple of service techs at BMW and anyone that has used them has not had any issues. Also they kept stressing that if the BMW dealer is selling the third party warranty then they should be decent because they know if there are any claims they most likely will be the ones to work on the car so they wouldn't want to deal with future issues. Which I bought the warranty from the BMW dealer that sold me the car and if there are future claims I will be taking the car to them for repairs and they would deal with Easy Care.

Hopefully things go well but will update here if I ever have a claim with them and how the process goes. Now I am working with them on getting extended warranty on my f10 m5 as well.

It ended up costing me $4500 for 72 months up to 100k miles with $250 deductible. But mine was cheap because my car is still under factory warranty until the end of the year.

Just bought the same warranty for my f10 M5 but power train only since my f10 has more miles and full coverage was way too expensive. Ended up costing me $4200 for 5 years and up to 104k miles. My f10 is 2014 with 44k miles.

Did they do an inspection on the F10 before selling you the policy?

Yeah that's low mileage.

Might give my local dealer a call to get a quote.
