Anybody replace wheel bearings?
I think my front bearings are making noise. Sounds like I have rough tires when I am driving at a slow speed, turning, etc.
I have 100k miles. May change them out soon.should I get cheap ebay bearings? Price is tempting. |

If it is the bearing best to just replace them with quality brand. SKF FEBI/BILSTEIN MYELE Avoid Ebay unknown brand you don't want sudden catastrophic failures on critical parts. |

Yeah I had front left wheel bearing replaced under warranty. Along with front control arms.
It was making a rough grinding sound like I was driving on pebbles all the time. In the beginning it was quiet. After a while it got louder. Not sure I trust eBay bearings though. |

At 100k miles on heavy x5 - that may be it. It's usually audible on lower speeds and hard to hear on higher speeds due to wind noise, engine noise - until they start to go really bad.
There's mediocre MEVOTECH brand for $45 lol https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...l+bearing,1672 Then there's Meyle for $99 https://www.bavauto.com/bmw-wheel-be...iABEgJOhPD_BwE For $50 difference - I would go for Meyle - I bet they are even better quality than OEM for half the price. |

Meyle remains subpar to an OEM.
IF you are going down the road of replacement, I would recommend a bearing from one of the larger European bearing operations, noting that they all produce bearings for each other. SKF INA F A G |

I am noticing the exact same kind of noise, only during low speed turns, can hear more prominent in underground parking lot. Did you get it resolved, were bearings the issue? Taking it to the dealer coming weekend, hopefully will know more then.

I think it's just my tires. I have not touched the bearings. And the noise has not gotten worse.

Thanks for the quick response. I am on stock 20" tires, almost at 1000kms, hard to imagine it's the tires in my case, started after about 300kms mark. I am kind of expecting "nothing wrong" response.

And Meyle is a solid brand. I've never heard of those "euro" brands that were listed.
