Problem steeringwheel

I have an f15 2017 with the m sport steering wheel and i checked the new G05 m sport steeringwheel witch i like more. I checked the wiring between both models but ther is no difference. So i bought myself the G05 one. Itried to install it but non of the buttons work.

Anyone ideas? Cause i don't get it the wiring is the same but nothing works

Picure is with the g05 in my f15

Likely needs coding for it to work. Someone might be able to chime in on this thread, otherwise if you search the forum there are a ton of threads regarding coding and how to code.

I know how to code, but there is no forum of someone trying to fit a g05 steering wheel in an f15. Looked allready for it.

And i don't know what would need to be coded since the wiring is completly the same and the option for sport steeringwheel is to but thanks.

I recall someone else having an issue with a steering wheel swap, and it was explained that because the switches are part of a board within the steering wheel thats why it needs coding. If the switches were simply that, wired switches, then it wouldnt need coding. The coding is to detect and identify the board that controls the switches and their functions.

Again, this is a best educated guess. Like you said, not many folks have attempted this swap so you might be blazing the path for everyone else lol

"wiring is the same" - did you actually compare the wiring diagrams, or just the plugs looked identical? Because, for example, the heating button is on the wheel for G05 but not on F15.

wiring is the same not only of the steering wheel but diagram from steeringwheel to the steer control unit (turnsignal and whiper)

The heating is not on the same place as its on the f15 that is correct but the wiring is the same

The wiring is not the same, the buttons and control modules inside the wheel are not the same, the airbag is not the same... Good luck!

The wiring from the steer to the cluster is the same! The only differens is som negative wires but a ngative wire just has to have contact so ther is no problem there. I never spoke about the buttons or the modules inside the steeringwheel i sad the wiring is the same witch it is!

First 2 are F15 last 3 G05 Every wire goes to the same point, so don't tell me there not the same!

You need help from someone like IK6SPEED, he put the G30 wheel in the F30. Damn simliar to what you are trying to accomplish. His name is Randy and his number is (727) 449-5000. He helped me years ago to source and install the F15 monitor on my F80.

I don't have ISTA in front of me to compare wiring, and I think it might be the same one coming into the steering wheel, but the problem is (my guess only) the little module in the steering wheel might be different (A69 on your scheme), and since these days it all digital signal, not analog. So even the G05 steering wheel fits and does it main job of steering left and right and wiring look the same it still might not be fully compatible. Can you retrofit it? May be, everything is possible for the right amount of money but in my opinion there is a little bit more in this than just matching wiring. All these modules talk to each other and need to have same software, etc etc. Few people tried to put the F85 gear shifter into the F15 and no one figured it out yet. Even the steering wheel with paddle shifters from F25/26 which looked identical had a different grounding point, and it took a while to figure out and get it working. (https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1432532)
And there is not much of a coding for the steering wheel on F15 (just paddle shifters AFAIK). What you trying to do ain't easy and might not work.

Hi,

I am interested in doing a similar fit.
Did you succeed in resolving the button mapping issue?
Does the skip/previous track work too?

Thank you!

This is the only version it will work with, but to get it to work you need to change the pcb and depending on the steeringwheel option (acc, tja, vibro, heating) the steeringwheelmodules need to be changed to f serie to
