I've read a lot of posts saying that people like these tires but now that I'm looking for some for my X5 I can't find the right size. Has anyone gotten them for their 315/35R20 rears? I'm wondering if they're just out of stock or if they don't make them..

If I’m not mistaken I thought that Michelin made a tire for the Porsche Cayenne which is the n-spec that were the same 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 combo.

Tirerack, Costco and American tires all carry it.

They're available on tirerack and technically there not star rated bmw tires they're actually porsche spec rated tires as others have mentioned but alot of people use them here including myself. I recently put on the michelin as3's after my conti dws's wore out and imo they ride much better in every aspect handling, comfort, road noise but about 400$ more than the conti's.

Ya I see what you guys mean. So are these equivalent to the 3 plus? I know the plus added better winter performance and maybe other things. Most of the things I've read agree with you that these are great tires.

Right sizes are def available for 20", I'm yet another user.
They are well worth the extra cost too IMO.

Here are some test results for comparison:

Technically, what you are looking for is Michelin AS3 N0. They come in 20 inch size and are hybrid between AS3 and AS3+, but closer to specs to AS3+. AS3+ doesn't come in 20in in that width.

As others said, Costco sells them; however, they are special order. It will take almost a week to get them. Sales person might give you some hard time about them cuz most likely they can't find them, but trust me, they are there. They also might give you hard time since you are replacing run flat with non run flat, and because AS3 is rated V (149mph) and not Z (149+mph).

Cool, thanks for the info. It sounds like the DWS06 is very comparable to the AS3 but cheaper. Would you say it's worth paying extra for the Michelins?

I've been running AS3 tires on my cars for almost 7 years now. Prior to AS3, I had Michelin AS. So, in my opinion, yes, it's worth it.

I tried DSW06 on my e92. They went beck within a week. Too soft and not direct. Made very plushy ride. But...

I love performance of AS3. Wet, dry, or anything in between. Tire is super predictable and handles awesome. Since getting AS3 n0 on the x5, I put almost 18k miles. Tires are performing same as day 1. Just pure awesomeness.

Discount tire has a better price than tire rack on these. They're not on their website and they don't stock them but if you call and tell them what you want, they'll get them for you.

Just wondering has anyone had issues with the car jerking in 3rd or 4th gear after installing these tires?

Good to know because I just checked with Costco last night and they can't get them. Discount tire is my second pic.

Meh... Mea Culpa.. I'm actually currently using N-Spec N0(Porsche) tires, not the + version. Have had the A/S 3 plus in the past on other vehicles, confused myself... (thnx to CT335xi and W37V, I realized my error)
Anyway, I really like them, have a few thousand miles on them already, and I recommend them (the N-spec N0 version)
Bought mine from Tire Rack, arrived in a couple days.

Also, I have the above sizes, and no issue with the car jerking etc. Tire sizes are correct for the F15 X5 with staggered wheels.
If you have issues with car jerking in 3 and 4th, I would take the car to the dealership and have them take a look...

A/s 3 n spec

Just had mine installed today. $1356 installed by Discount tire. My initial impressions on the 70 mile drive back home are not that good. As far as road noise goes... These are louder than the OEM Conti run flats. They handle the bumps better but the F***ING road noise . They said I have 30 days to return them. Not sure where to go from here.

Crap that sucks. I would just put a bunch of miles on them for a few weeks and see if they're still loud. I've heard that they get better as they get broken in. At least discount tire has a return policy.. That's awesome

Sorry to hear that.

In that case, you know your priorities and preferences. Go with continental DSW 06. Since they are soft, they will be whisper quiet. Not as direct as AS3. But that’s what you get. You have to sacrifice something. Handling or noise.

My AS3 are def quieter than pirellis that were on there before. Noise remains consistent even with tire wear and I never found it bothersome.

The DWS 06 are actually harder at 560 treadwear compared to the N SPEC at 500. Not a huge difference but still a little harder. I wasn't crazy about the DWS 06 tread pattern and looked as though they may have some noise because of the cross pattern.

I'm having a vibration issue as well. They road forced balanced them at Discount tire so maybe it's a bad tire. I'm going to have them rebalanced at a local tire shop I usually go to.

I understand what you are saying, but DSW is quieter. Tires feel mushy, thus I replaced them. But they were quiet.

The best way for you to feel the tire is to find someone who has them and try them.

Yes from TireRack. They are N spec. Now have 20 k miles on them and 8/32 tread remaining. Non run flat. I have a spare.

After putting a few hundred miles on these and the correct air pressure in them... the road noise is completely gone and the ride is excellent.
