My dealer ordered them for my car, and I have an appointment next Thursday for the work to be done.

I'm still waiting for the dealer to get back in touch with me. I emailed on Tuesday and nothing. I'm not sure this dude even reads emails. I'll call him, but I'm tempted to go to another dealership, because jeez, who can't read a friggin' email?

Reading so many horror stories on these forums, I feel like I found the goose that lays the golden eggs with my dealership. I'm friendly with the owners, their son is the GM, and is awesome to work with. He always helps us order our vehicles. My service advisor is amazing. I made friends with her years ago. She's a bit younger than me, and one of the best, kindest, nicest people I've met. I've always done right by her, and her new husband, e.g. thoughtful gestures and gifts. Anyone at the dealership always emails me back within an hour or so of emailing them. It's really sad that so many BMW dealerships out there seem to be filled with horror stories.

Also my dealer from Eastern Europe is like the golden goose, i had only awesome relations with them, and everything aftermarket on the car was installed by them. Top service

it's good to know that my dealer may be the exception rather than the rule. i may end up trying another one in the area and see if I get better results.

I had my car in for the "spacer" fix, but i'm pretty sure it did nothing.
Not sure if it was straight away, but the sound is definitely there now, and maybe I'm just paranoid.. but it seems to be getting louder/more frequent!
I do live in a multi story car park though, which seems to be the perfect scenario of low speed turning, weight transitions and reflective surfaces to hear it.

oh crap, that ain't good. that does sound the perfect scenario to hear anything, but if it's still there it's still there. please let us know. perhaps the "fix" is less than that...

Alright folks, well I've been living with this noise of the creaky creaky ting ting wheels as I round a curve for a while now. Haven't brought it into a dealer for any kind of fix yet. For those that have brought it in for the spacer, has the issue been resolved? Have you put a few miles and stress on the car since the install?

The noise is bumming me out, and I'm just wondering if it's a safety issue too. Debating if I should get it fixed, but only want to obviously if it is a real fix!

thanks

I had the friction plate spacers installed over two weeks ago, and everything is right in the world again. It does, indeed, seem to fix the problem, or at least it has for me. I figure, since mine happened mostly when the car was really warm, and had been under stress from spirited driving, that the dead heat of the summer will be the true test. As of now, though, all is quiet again!

Had the spacer fitted this week finally per the bulletin.

Clicking is gone thankfully. It was becoming embarrassing.

It's fixed mine. I drive like a maniac and haven't heard a hint of the noise since.

What exactly did they do to fix it?

Thanks

Mine is in production right now, do you think they will apply the fix on new builds? Will I get lucky?

I have a 2016 and started experiencing the noise around 4000 mi. I took it in Monday (5/16) to have it repaired at 7200 mi. I have only driven about 50 miles since repair but no sound.

According to my service advisor, BMW is aware of this (has posted a repair bulletin) and lists several cars in which this may happen, including the F15 and F85.

For the repair, they removed both front wheel bearings and sanded the mating surfaces. Then they applied the contact grease from the repair kits. (BMW states that the root cause is movement between the contact services of the wheel bearing and swivel bearing (knuckle).

I was told that if the sound comes back (and that has happened with several cars, including an M6), BMW has an even more involved procedure to address it. My service advisor was vague on what that procedure would be, but maintained that it would take more time. Let's hope that this solution works for my car.

I will keep you posted as I put more miles on the car.

Looks like a friction gasket is used to stop the movement.

Are you guys hearing it with the windows up ?

Thank you. I will be calling my dealer soon. I only hear it with the window down and radio off. Pretty loud and annoying.

Add one more to the list - taking car in next Wed (05/25) to address the same issue. Have had the noise since 1200 service, when the service tech I took for a ride proceeded to tell me the issue is related to the brakes and "normal". To be fair, the noise was barely audible then and happened very infrequently. Coming up on 6k miles now and it's a regular occurrence - both wheels - during medium to tight turns to either side. It's almost silly how loud it is when driving through the parking garage at work. Almost embarrassing when I get to explain why my new high-end luxury SAV makes strange clicking noises to the ol' co-workers.

Sure thing. I first heard it turning in a parking structure and thought it was someone else's car. And I heard it mainly through the open sunroof. But as time progressed, it got louder and I heard it in more situations, like turning corners on the street and getting on the onramp. Perhaps I was just more attentive and aware.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
