$33 for the air filter on amazon.. can I just buy 2 for both sides or are each sides different filters?
This right here is a prime example of why dealerships aren't trusted. They think just because you drive an expensive vehicle you should pay more for the exact same parts. Ridiculous
That's name Value Proposition - dealer maintained car with 100% bills, etc...
Next you ll buy gas from them because it has the logo lol

Put Plumbers, HVAC, and Electricians in this category of being rip-offs

Just bought filters for mine and used this DIY

BMW Part 64-11-9-248-294 is the charcoal filters in the engine bay on the passenger side. They come in a set of 2. They are about $80 on FCP for BMW OEM. I went with the MANN non-branded BMW version for $30 for the set. Same exact thing as OEM.

BMW Part 64-31-9-194-098 is the recirculating filter under the glove box. Only 1 filter there. The BMW branded runs about $30. I got the Corteco brand which makes the OEM for $13 off FCP Euro.

Where did you purchase the filters from?

I got them from FCP Euro. I like the idea that they have a lifetime warranty on parts, even on replacement/disposable items like this. When you go to buy the next set, you pay up front. Ship back your old parts originally purchased and they will credit your new order. This will be my first attempt after I have to replace these filters so not sure if it is as easy as they make it sound. Worth a shot.

Recirculating Filter under Dash - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products?utf...-31-9-194-098+

Charcoal Filter Set of 2 In Engine Bay - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products?utf...-11-9-248-294+

The BMW part for these is 64-11-9-248-294. The FCP Euro site says that part # does not fit my 2017 35I, but a few other members posted the part numbers on the forum stating 64-11-9-248-294 is correct and GetBMWParts.com has that fitting the 2014-2018 F15's

Easiest diy there is. Both take maybe 30-40 min total

I got the charcoal filters on amazon. And I think the cabin filter too but I may have gotten that on eBay. I wrote a DIY for that one too but can't find it haha.

Maybe for the intake filters but every two years is more realistic I think. They both looked immaculate when I changed min.

Don't know about you, but certainly not once a year, unless you count continuous cell regeneration - that came with a lifetime guarantee.....(subject to ToS )

For the cabin recirculating filter I couldn’t find activated carbon filters from Mann, Major, Hengst. I ended up with brand I never heard of called Premium Guard on Amazon. I have to say the quality looks and feels pretty good and I’ve used for a couple months now I think have an activated carbon recirculating filter does help especially some weird smell gets into the car especially if someone didn’t close a window.

Are you referring to the filter under the hood or footwell? Oem isn't carbon for footwell. Only for outside. Im assuming footwell. Can you post link as nothing comes up on amazon for the bmw under that brand.

Also can you post it in my DIY for the recirculating filter vice this one. Think that will help the most.

I'm at 31K miles and its a 2015.

My dealer recommended changing the filters once a year so I refused this part of the service and just did the oil change.

Since these filters are cheap and a DIY I will go ahead and change them to be a little proactive.

So I will need Mann Filter CUK 2941-2 Cabin Air Filter for the ones that go under the front hood.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YNAUNC?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Or

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...5-x6-cuk2941-2

and the charcoal filter that goes under the glove box

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...co-64319194098

or

https://www.amazon.com/BMW-Genuine-I...0571&s=gateway

Wow thanks for this post. I just changed the engine air filter and the recirculating air filter on my wife's new to us X5 but didn't know there was a 3rd (and looks like 4th filter) for fresh air.

Will be ordering this today.

Up to you. But the only charcoal ones are the hood filters. Someone said they found an aftermarket charcoal for the inside but I didn't find it.

Can't ignore the lifetime warranty though. Not sure how you would claim warranty on filters unless it says on the box when to replace them. I would put in a request with FCP and see what they say. I'm up for M air filters soon and probably will buy through them this time.

Worked on this today and it was very simple. Just a few twist and snaps and the cover came off easily. I compared the old and new filters, and I don't think mine needs changing at this time. I guess I'll keep the filters for when I need to change them in the future.
