Rotor rust normal?

Considering buying a 2018 X5M which looks super clean except for rotor rust. Is this normal and a non issue/easily cleanable?

I assume it's there because the rotors got wet and haven't been used. Have you driven the car? The rust should come off as you press the brakes. First time might feel/sound ugly while the pads scrape off the rust, but that will correct itself.

Do yourself a favor and pop out the center caps and eyeball the axle nuts! They could be unrecognizable like the ones on my 15 X5 50i. When I discovered it pointed them out to the dealership, was told it fell outside the scope of a CPO warranty.

That looks pretty thick.. looks like it got wet a million times and sat and that's why the rust is so heavy but hopefully some stop and go traffic would clear that up ASAP if not then you know it's been sitting for a long period of time and other things could be badly rusted.

Good luck

Congrats. Be prepared for the squeaky brakes that the F85 has and it's not related to the rust.

No worries there's a fix for that.. if he has the problem his local dealer should sort it out for him.

Mixed results with that. So no guarantees.

Just drive the damn machine hard and be happyyyyyy! And if the brakes squeak, no worries, we all go squeak … squeak … squeaky, squeaky, … I mean all day … and haven't seen a permanent solution thus far …. …. …
