New xDrive50i owner

Hello everyone! Finally, I have some time to share pics of my new (CPO) BMW X5.

I've always had 3 series BMW's, and never an SUV so this is sort of a big change for me.

It was between this and an M550i. And the X5 won. Says my accountant!!!

So far I love it! It drives pretty decent but more than anything just feels sooo comfortable and inspires confidence. I am very happy I went for the bigger engine as well. The throaty cold starts in the morning and the deep exhaust growl on acceleration make it all worth it. I was getting tired of the inline 6 sound and exhaust note to be honest. And my f80 M3 didn't help. Was definitely lacking in the sound department.

Which brings me to my next totally bizarre point. This X5 reminds me of ... my e92 M3! Lol!!! Completely nuts, right? But the smell of the leather (Napa?) and the V8 idle just transform me to a distant place when I had my e92. It's very bizarre of course since they are not even remotely the same. You are quickly reminded of that fact as you take the first corner. Lol!!

I also opted to pay roughly $6,000 for the extended warranty on this bad boy. I purchased this X5 with just under 32,000 miles, and extended both the CPO warranty and the maintenance plan until 2021!

I hope to stick around here and post more stuff about my new car and share my experiences with you all. I've learned so much already by lurking and reading all of your very detailed and informative posts!

Here's to many more healthy miles!

PS: this N63 V8 gets 20mpg and boasts a whopping 400 mile tank range, which is absolutely ridiculous!! My last car was a 2017 VW GTI (4 cylinder 2.0 turbo) and I was lucky to get 25mpg. I was budgeting for 15mpg in the X5 but it has surprised me thus far! Just amazing!!!

To get some more NOTE from the exhaust, tie open(permanently with wire or zip tie) the right side flap. Well thats what i did on my 35i.. not sure if the 50i comes with the flap open.
BTW- nice pickup, looks good.

no flaps in f15 50i - it's all taken care of from the factory

Unfortunately, no black Nappa available on the F15. That’s Dakota.

Congrats man! Looks like my twin. Except, I have black grilles and I lightly tinted front windows with 35%. She's a beast! I know guys in sports cars are scratching their head everytime I go flying by. And I have a supercharged mustang that is currently low to mid 600's at the wheels and I still love driving the X5!

Wow 20mpg lol, can we have a foot swap? I can't even get 16mpg average on a full tank.

Are you in eco-sport or doing mostly highway driving? I barely get 12-15mpg with my inner city heavy foot.

Interesting. Well, I also have the individual leather dash, so I guess that maybe Napa?

Interesting enough, I got worse mpg in ec-pro mode. I was patient too. I drove a full tank of gas on eco-pro and still got in the mid 19's per gallon. I thought the coasting mode would help, but nope!

Comfort mode 100% of the time and I drive like I'm going to keep this car forever! It 's so nice to just drive this car slowly and let others pass by. Something about the size of this X5 makes me feel totally content cruising in the middle or far right lane doing 55-65mph. Almost all highway miles.

In my GTI and M3 I would always be far left lane and doing 75-90mph almost all the time.

Nappa leather is available on the X5, especially the 50i! Our neighbor has a 50i with butter soft Nappa. Dakota is very durable and nice leather, but it is rough as hell, compared to the Nappa.

My last G550 (2016) and my Range Rover (2014) had premium, upgraded Nappa leather...including the dashboard, and man it was like butter! Love my 35d interior, but my Dakota leather is NOT premium. LOL

True, but not black Nappa. You can get Ivory White or Mocha Nappa. Leather on the dash is Nappa.

Aside from the 5.0 badge on the exterior, any other differences from the 35i ?

With 50i you get trapezoid exhaust tips by default. With 35i you have to order M-Sport to get them. Aside from that - exterior is same. If you go with M-Sport - it will be same in both 35i or 50i
50i only adds different engine and possibly some extra options by default and opens some extra order options (like Nappa leather etc)

The 50i also adds gap insurance.

It insures that you will gap anything you race. Hahahahaha
