Differential oil leak from front or 4by4 differential box
Hi, just did oil change and filter change service.
Noticed oil leaking from front differential i think, videos attached. Can this be repaired by changing seals or silicone as i am unsure of it. Car is out of warranty and dealer service package so all costs on me. Car has done 195k kms and 2014 model. Also noticed some grease oozing out from front wheel connector rod as in the picture. Inputs welcome. I am an expat residing in Abu Dhabi, UAE. |

No video of the diff leak.
Could it be the transfer case you're referring to? - post a photo. The constant velocity joint and if its leaking its best to replace the complete shaft/axle - you can buy the rubber boot only, but at your mileage/age and the work involved it's not a practical solution. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...kn-31607607937 |

Smell the fluid that you think is coming from the front diff. It could just be engine oil as leaks are practically guaranteed on BMWs.
With the axle I agree with the poster above. Just get a new unit. However, the actual failure could be a long way off… |
