Easy, after you push engine off button "twice" hold the turn signal stock for a few seconds for the desired side to light on! Its called Parking Lights.

How long does it stay on for?

As long as you leave the car I guess. Maybe in the sun it will automatically turn off after the car senses the light, but I haven't tested it out.

This feature is actually been known with BMWs & other german cars for a long time. It helps in tight dark streets like in Italy. People don't know about it because BMW changed the way to activate it with the F series..
