Correction about the price. Some places can do it for $150.

Yeah I agree about the web site. Though a huge Tire company Town Fair Tire works with Rimpro along with the states Ferrari dealer, so I am sure the are good.
My first choice looks to be Tire Repair Soecialist, unless I decide to to have Plastidip done. $150 four 4 wheels is a very good price vs $300+ for painting. |

Thanks Opasha for all your help.
I found this Plastidip installer about 30 minutes from me. Will contact them tomorrow. http://dipstarz.com/ Last edited by SUV55; 11-09-2014 at 06:50 PM.. |

The only thing that I see that is a bit of a concern is that it says hand washing will not degrade the finish. I want to be able to go to a high pressured touchless car wash. If I can't and have to rely on handwashing, then it is a deal breaker.

That I don't know about. You would have to ask the company that does the dip for you how strong it is to high pressure water.

A wheel paint estimate just came in for $600. Not cheap. Plastidip will be a fraction of that.
I wish the 490 was announced for the US, but it's just speculation if it is ever coming here. |

Saw your correction. Yeah, plastidip is much cheaper to do.

http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/dip...-car-wash.html http://www.i-club.com/forums/subaru-...r-wash-248686/ http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-ge...c-carwash.html To be safe, go touchless. That's what I do. I went to a local Exxon that does both, soft-touch and touchless, and the soft touch brushes damaged both my father's 98 S320 and my brother's G37 (before he traded it back in). Lots of tiny scratches all over. Things like rocks and particles get caught into those spin brushes so that causes bad scratching. Be very careful with those. I use the Exxon touch free and it always leaves my car looking amazing, and I just hand wipe my wheels and spray this Duragloss 281 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) on my tires with this sponge (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...e=UTF8&psc=1); I do 2 wipes with the sponge - going in semi circle direction once to the right and once to the left. It leaves my car looking brand spanking new every time. You can see how nice the Duragloss lasts - this is after about 4 days:

You're very welcome. Yeah, I highly recommend those items. I bought them after plenty of research. Tirewet isn't good for tires so I stopped using that a long time ago - it's very messy. The Duragloss goes on nicely without splashing all over your body. What I recommend is spraying onto the sponge in a zig zag motion from top to bottom of the sponge and then applying to your tire. Then respray onto the sponge as needed for each wipe you do (you just spray in little taps - no big sprays needed at all). Also, use disposable gloves to protect your hands. It also smells nice, lol.
