Vbox tested Dinan Airbox

Made a run before I installed the Dinan Airbox.

Installed the Airbox lid and filters. Easy installation and nice quality. Thanks to Ben at RGSPORT for the mod. Went back to the same “strip” and let it rip.

Did not help the launch or bottom end power at all. Top end charge was helped. 0.10 to 0.20 reduction. Not bad for the price.

run it again after about 150-200 miles. let the dme adapt. i am curious to see if there are different readings.

i noticed that off the line there isn't much to it except improved engine note and you can hear the spool however where it is noticeable is highway pulls. for passing or merging you feel a little more pull.

How loud does the spool get? Is it something that you here faintly or pretty noticeable?

Not loud enough for you in the car with all the window and door closed to hear.
If you can hear it, then your engine is having a problem.

But, it will be noticeable for anyone who is outside.

Interesting... I can't say i noticed any sound difference with my Dinan but that could be because of my loud exhaust and I've gotten use to it. I think i need someone to floor my car while i stand outside of it to listen to how it really sounds lol

BMW going to add that turbo spool noise in the ASD soon. Hahaha.
Any request how loud? Mention it and cross the finger that they will read it and put action into it.

Subaru WRX type, Mitsubishi EVO type, Toyota Supra type, or ??

Maybe even bring back the diverter valve that enable you to dump the excess air to atmosphere instead back to the engine air intake system?

DV did not make that sound Blow Off Valves did. DV recirculated the boost the BOV released it into the atmosphere creating the sound.

You are correct. I was too lazy to type the whole detail about that.
Thank you for clarifying it.

Another note, DV can be converted into BOV.

Indeed it can however it will only give you the sound but will not be beneficial to the system since the air is not being recirculated. Those that do this typically want the sound effect and nothing more.

Back to the strip after a few days of driving. Very consistent 0-100mph in 8.50 seconds. Before RC,Akrapovic and Dinan....on a much colder day in March 2016 it ran 0-100mph in 9.40 seconds pure stock . Mods work well !
