I did not originally see it, but the website actually shows the production date. I see JcLusso had a production date of 8 Sept, and I had a production date of 12 Sept. If mine had only been built one day sooner, it would have been on my birthday. Still, extremely cool. Looking forward to delivery in about 10 days.

I am in Stuttgart, Germany. It has to be shipped to a port in Hamburg, then driven to the dealership for delivery prep etc.

The drive from the port to my dealership is only about 6 hours. The long part of the process is departing the factory in Spartanburg, clearing customs and the port in the US. Embarking on shipping, and transiting the Atlantic. Finally, the ship has to arrive here at the destination port, and unload cargo, pass inspections, clear customs, and get transported via truck to my dealership. It is realistically a 4-5 week process not counting any delays such as the Individual Azurite Black metallic paint causing a delay in production, or other loading, unloading, or customs delays.

In the order bank, as the PC requested I have a week 47/48 production for 2018 week 2 PCD:
C16 Long Beach Blue X3JR Full Sonoma Beige 4L9 Aluminum trace trim 612M - 21? ZEC Executive Package 3AT Satin Aluminum roof rails 3MB Satin Aluminum line exterior trim 6CP Apple car play 6F2 B&O Had my ED 2018 M4 cabrio being washed last week at BMW Frankfurt prior to BLG dropoff and took a pic of the swatches (Ibiza?s wife nails), as F85 order was placed prior to ED departure and I deal with a out of state dealership via e-mail, so no test drivea or dealership visits prior to ordering as I can?t stand my local dealership trolls. Attached is a pic of my F83, which is Tanzanite Blue with Black shadow line trim, carbon fiber interior trim, and competition package black exterior trim bits including rims; thus why I went with Aluminum accents outside and inside for the F85. Looking forward to taking a ?family picture? January 2018, as the F83 is still awaiting assignment for a ship. EDIT: Finally received a week 43 build, but PCD isnβt until Jan 2018 as Iβm flying into Greenville/Spartanburg from Europe.

Long Beach Blue is an absolutely fantastic color choice. I had a vehicle with a similarly intensely bright metallic blue with a pearl coat before I repeatedly bought three cars in a row in Black. I thought about LBB when making my color choice this time. It is my second favorite color from the narrow list of color choices. I definitely wanted to try and move away from Black, and not buy a fourth vehicle in a row in black, but I guess it is still black since it is in the name...Azurite Black metallic.
I also strongly considered trying to find a way to order from the factory in a different BMW color other than Azurite. A lot of marketing information showed the Pyrite Brown Metallic which looked awesome in BMW photos. Unfortunately I was told that it is not offered anymore, and that I was not able to choose a color like your Tanzanite Blue which looks amazing. Does anyone know for sure that the X5 M is not able to be painted in other colors from the Spartanburg plant than the few choices on the website? It was explained to me that the color options at that factory were much more limited than the M cars made here in Germany. Seems like a simple logistical problem with ordering a different color of paint. Perhaps it is a matter of quality. |

Yes, German production has unlimited Individual Manufaktur options compared to US production, but again with Plant Spartanburg being the largest BMW plant can?t see how the limited Individual choices can continue. Quality has been an issue, as I was informed last week by a BMW AG employee that all F15/F16/F85/F86 for the German market go to Werk Dingolfing for additional work upon arrival into Bremerhaven and prior to customer delivery. I was shocked to hear this.

That is shocking. Since mine is US specifications, then I imagine it will not be getting any additional attention in Dingolfing. I wonder if it is really quality control, or if it pertains to the different vehicle inspection criteria Germany has. I have 3 different US spec vehicles, and a US spec Ducati Diavel Titanium that I had to get past the German vehicle inspection process before registration. I feel like the inspection is much more exhaustive than in any state I have lived in back in the US. Also, I have taken my US spec Audi Q7 into the German Audi dealership in Stuttgart, and they advise me that there are a significant amount of differences in US Spec and German spec Audi vehicles. Apparently they even warned me that they could damage my car by repairing it since the specifications are different. I would imagine if this is all true, a German company like BMW is not satisfied in trusting some good old boys in South Carolina to ensure their German spec cars meet German standards.
