Rotor sizes for ANY X5 F15 (no matter engine choice) that fit without issues, just in case if anyone needs it:

F85 - 395mm front (drilled and 2 piece rotor), 385mm rear (drilled and 2 piece rotor)
MPBK - 395mm front, 385mm rear
50i - 365mm front, 345mm rear
35i - 332mm front, 320mm rear
Just for fun and comparison: Toyota Highlander V6 3.5L 2015 has - 328mm front, 309mm rear

All of these rotors have aftermarket options that are drilled or slotted or both drilled and slotted simultaneously.

*There's also an option to install M5 F10 Rotors (400mm front, drilled and 2 piece; 396mm rear, drilled and 2 piece) but you will need F10 M5 calipers and an adapter - otherwise they won't fit. This is craziest option (and expensive) for complete die-hard fans, but doable haha.

Yes and the M5 calipers are a lot more available than the X5M from a used stand point. In fact I've never seen F85 used calipers.

Agree, and i would like to see some day someone go for it and post some pics! However, for us mere mortals, we can just use f85 rotors only (mainly because they look cool drilled) and take calipers from E70 X5M/X6M (Brembo ones that I did). E70 X5M/X6M = MPBK calipers.

Parts # needed

Apologies, am about to order and thought I knew it all but I do not. I would still need part #s for:

1. screws bolts needed (part#) for the front drilled F85 rotors
2. part #s for the rear F85 rotors
3. part # for the rear screws for F85 rotors (if needed at all if they are different to screws bolts than that of m performance brakes)

Further questions/request for opinions

i)only doubting to order the rear F85 rotors as the small shop could have problems installing it. I do like to look though, but could look cool also with front drilled as well.

ii) how long can i take before I install the F85 rotors. I will have the M performance brakes installed this week, is it ok to use the for a week and then install the F85 rotors (I do not know in terms of bedding, squeeking). It might be that the brake pads will already be "adjusted" to the performance rotors

I know its a lot but it is an expensive project and half of it won't be done at the dealer so I would need to know upfront

Thanks a lot! Am excited

Why would your shop have trouble with the tears? Just need to trim the shield. Or just buy the shield and have them install it.

And yes you can use them for a week and then put on new rotors but if you're gonna do that then why not just wait and sell "brand new" rotors to someone else? Maybe someone with an E70

Thanks for answering. Have no idea what you mean with the "shield" and "tears". Anyways BMW dealer wont do it, so have to bring it to a smaller automechanic shop. They barely speak english. All good with front rotors but rear ones wont be as easy to explain why there are holes that dont fit and so on. Decided to go with all of this and hopefully it will all work out good.

Sorry meant rears not tears and you didn't say dealer you said small shop. So I'm confused. Why wouldn't a small shop do it for you as you just need to trim the dust shield to install the larger F85 rear rotors. If they won't then just trim it yourself and take it back to them.

Ok, thanks. So small shop barely speak english and I have a feeling unless it is "plug & play" it might be difficult for me to explain to them especially if i am not sure what needs to be done. My understanding is that rear F85 drilled rotors are the same size as M performance one. What is the dust shield that needs to be trimmed? Can you please explain, as I plan to order the parts today. Thanks

Do not need the trim the shield because rotors size are the same. Shield is the shiny metal behind the rotor.

The green arrow shows that our hub and f85 rotor for rear - holes don't line up for that bolt. No big deal.
Explanation is here.

Hi all , just received an email confirming that the order of MPBK+M front drilled rotors , M air engine air filters , rear diffuser and he left flap has been shipped to me : ) .. still waiting for the rear right flap to arrive from Germany. local Bmw quoted me $850 for total cost of installation and coding too .The bad thing is that i have maintenance plus package that includes free change of brakes, rotors, pads , sensors etc.... and the MPBK will not gonna be covered since car has been registered with normal brakes system....Kind of bad ,but i guess i will have to deal with it .BTW i have paid $2130 for the kit and $532 for the front drilled M rotors ...

Interesting. It's $320/rotor on their site, but your invoice shows $266/rotor. What did you do to get that pricing? Just curious.
