- Typical lease returns have warranty out to July 2019 at this point (leased in July 2015). This car has warranty out to end of 2020. When I priced an extra year of extended warranty, the dealer started with $3500 ish, but of course you can negotiate that down if you really want it. That extra 1.5 years of warranty is worth maybe $1500 - $2000, and I think it’s worth it.

So to be truly comparable to lease returns, I think he is really asking around $38000 for a pretty loaded m sport. MSRP on this car is probably around $74000. I removed the $3500 for wheels and $2795 for extended warranty. Added back $950 for 20 inch wheels, $950 for multi count our seats, and $995 destination fee.

$38000 asking for a $74000 car is 51.3% residual, which is quite reasonable considering that BMW inflated residuals back in 2015 was 56% for 3yr/15k miles. I’d suggest the OP to sell the wheels separately. I agree with another poster about little differentiation in engine terms, especially in the 35s, so there is a ton of competition. The Mocha Interior Trim stands out so you should highlight that.

This is a decent deal if someone is specifically looking for a 35s m-sport with mocha interior with extended warranty and an extra set of wheels. I suspect no one like that exists. If you really want to sell, you should break it up.
Hey, Thanks for the insight. The original warranty of my X5 will expire at 50k miles/end of 2018. What I purchased is the extended BMW service program which include all factory schedule maintenance service such oil, filter, brake pad/rotor etc.. it's about $3000 for up to 100k miles/or by end of 2020.

If anyone doubts about the reliability of BMW, they should buy the separate exp warranty for $4k- 6k depends on the program. I had my 2 previous BMW's e46 M3 and 2011 X5 4.8i and they are reliable when you take care them and maintain them. I feel even better for this F15 model.

Bottom line is that this one is in pretty mint condition and would be a great one to purchase if anyone likes this particular model with options I have.
Having 20' summer tire is good but there can be many snow days in East coast, so Same size 20' snow tire/wheel comes in handy especially when all the schedule maintenance services at BMW dealer are included.

I think $42k is fair price to sell with the condition and options. But I will take the best offer!

I think you posted on the correct forum. We have seen sales from members from other bimmerpost sites.
You may need to be patient....timing is tough.
I wouldn't give in to lowballing though!

Try autotrader or your local ads. You could also try eBay with a classified ad as well. Good luck with the sale, very clean X5!

One thing I like the most about my x5 is that it has Nappa leather seats. I haven't seen that many x5's with Nappa Leather options.... They are much comfortable compared to regular leather.

FYI, 2015 and new BMW's with Maintenance plan do not transfer! I just learned the hard way. I purchased a 2015 X5 that had the extended maintenance plan. Went in to a dealer to get it transferred and was informed they do not transfer. Called up BMW USA direct and they confirmed. Dealer offered to "refresh" the maintenance plan for $700. Still weighing if it's worth it.

Tycon,

Not wanting to start a "flame war" but your asking price is waaaay too high. I just went through this on our 2017 X5 like yours. Bottom line is that I took an ass whipping on the depreciation.

All the options you listed are nice but rarely have much impact on the used market.

The buyers w/o money hardly close a deal and those with money buy newer or keep ratcheting you down.

Just my opinion - been there last month and just suffered through the used market reality.

Not sure which BMW dealer you went, but BMW Maintenance Program Upgrade agreement remain in the vehicle under VIN, so the new owner can get the Maintenance service till contracted date. Confirmed that with the dealer prior to purchase.

FYI, attached the picture of agreement.

Apple Corps,

True... I appreciate your honest opinion and understand your assessment. I'm still open to drop the price as needed or get a best offer. Hope someone might be looking for this one or seriously interested... BMW options don't go too far in used car market value but this one is really in a good shape though

Tycon - our 2017 had 2800 miles and Executive package and DHP and dealer installed MPPK and Xpel Ultimate wrap - showroom condition.

Ass whipping still happened - used market reality.

You may find that micro needle in the macro haystack but that requires a huge amount of work or great luck that I have rarely encountered.

I think the problem is the market conditions. It's clear that there are no reasonable offers on the table, which tells me there is no demand. As such, you have to lower a lot more to motivate people sitting on the fences. Will be a real shame to see cars like this not being sold, or go on firesale.

There is a similar version being offered by a very reputable member and have not seen the "Sold" sign, and it's been quite a while since ad was posted.

My recommendation is to keep it for yourself, if possible.

That very suggestion is what I almost went with (screw it - for that price I'll just keep it). I tried to keep it within the family but no takers for such a "big vehicle" (lol). It really made me think through just how bad I really wanted the X5 M.

This is an expensive passion - cheaper than meth addiction I guess

That is why there is a new X5 M in the garage. It dawned on me that I wanted a BMW with the power and handling of a McLaren, the prestige of a Ferrari, the fuel economy of a Prius, the utility of a pick-up truck, very low depreciation, the reliability of a Camry, and the insurance rates of a Crown Victoria. That is not going to happen and I am not getting any younger.

Done

Not sure if you have registered your vehicle on the bmw website, but if you haven't you should.
Once registered, it will tell you how much factory warranty is remaining, and any other warranty that may be attached to VIN. Plus it shows everything your vehicle was built with from factory, and any recalls that may be there.
