Do you need to have your headlights ON or in the AUTO position for these seat LEDs to be illuminated? If these lights are on the same circuit as the interior ambient lighting...they may only illuminate when the headlights are turned on.

BTW, for those with comfort seats...the part database list supplemental info that the lights were used up to 8/2016 build date for item #4 in the diagram/illustration:

EDIT: found some more info that may be of interest about the LEDs in the backrests of the front comfort seats (should apply to the regular seats, too). And it does say that they are on the ambient light circuit...so to the OP...are your headlights turned on when you are checking for these lights to be illuminated?

I have a MY '17, that would explain why I don't have them.
I forgot to mention on MY 17 have comfort seats as well, lights package, no LED strip on the back of the front seats

Was thinking of trying to retrofit them, until I looked at the cost of the seat back and and the light unit ....

Lol I never realized these are there, I don't know if they are very dim or not working but they don't look lit on mine, did not have time to check.

As noted in the 2nd paragraph of the BMW description of these lights...the purpose of the light was to illuminate the contours of the seat back. But this ambient light feature has taken a life of its own as we can see with how popular the coding for this feature for a greater selection of colors as well as the desire to make the lights bright (like Vegas?? )
