Alcantara M sport one is going to be my alternative if the wife decides to keep the X5 after our GL. Just wished it was a flat bottom.

I say covered. I just had my drver side console cover (which was wearing excessively fast) as well as a passenger front seat cover replaced under warranty as the stitching was coming loose amd they also replaced my rear exhaust/muffler due to corrosion of the rear tips so seems to me this certanly should be covered. i think your dealer has a lot to do with getting certain things covered. mine is great in that regard.

Never hurts to ask the dealer instead of us.
Once someone stole my BMW roundels (there were pry marks), the dealer replaced them said they fell off.
