headlight AHL problems

View post on imgur.com

I got a messaged "Adaptive Headlight system malfuction" on my dash. I checked the errors with bimmerlink and found this. Any idea what part might need replacing? Anyone know what "sensor edge missing" means?

I saw that, I swapped the modules and the error didn't change sides. So I took a good look at all the wire connections and found a broken wire. Anyone know how to fix this?

Were you ever able to get this fixed? I have the exact same issue.

I found the connector that is used (https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1-1718346-1.html) as well as the mating pin that goes inside the connector. I wonder if it is possible to crimp a mating pin onto another piece of wire and splice it into the harness. The challenge is crimping the pin onto the wire as it appears that a specialized crimper is required.

I fixed it by stripping the loose wire and jamming the copper threads into the port in and around the old wire piece that was stuck in the port. So far it hasn't fallen out.

Well it broke to day. Problem cam back and found a second wire some out wore out and broke. So probably gonna have to cut the connector off strip the wires out and re-insert them.

I fixed it for the second time. This time permanently.

You don’t need the connector or the crimper. Just the mating pins. The pins come out easily with a pick. The pins can be found on FCP euro.
You also need some heat shrink, new wire, and a $20 soldering kit from home depot.

Mark the wires, You dont want to mix them up. Clip the connector off the wires, then open it up with a pick and push the arrow shaped indentation to unlock the pins and pull them out.

Put new wires in the new pins, Crimp them as best you can with some needle nose pliers. They need to be crimped down good or they wont fit back in. It doesnt need to be pretty, just needs to be smashed down enough to fit in the hole. Put some solder on them to make sure they hold. THe sheaths on my wires were too think so the part of the crimp that goes around the sheath was just crimped around bare wire.

Strip all the wires and put heat shrink on them. Carefully solder the new harness to the old wires and cover with the heat shrink. I had to make a little cardboard thing with slots to hold the two ends of wires together while I soldered. Dont burn your self or accidentally burn the connector like it did. I accidentally burned the side of my connector but didn't ruin it.

heres some bad pictures.
