Prepaid service, good idea or bad?

My X5M has almost 50k miles.
I was offered an additional 2 yr /25k mile service plan for $1400. That'd include brakes, rotors, oil changes, filters, etc.

Is it a good deal?

Since rotors/brakes cost quite a bit, I am thinking it makes sense, although I'm not sure.

I appreciate any input.

I don’t see any downside to it, esp if you think you’ll need brakes within that time

Look at sheet dealer gave you at last service..does it give pad mm and rotor micrometer mm? How many miles on car.Have pads been done once? You won't get a brake job unless car calls for it. Will it fall into 2nd spark plug change by mileage...that one is expensive also

I just had it done today, they said brakes need to be replaced next 3-4k miles. Car has 50k miles, still on original brakes.

Get them to agree to change the brakes, rotors and fluids on the first day of coverage.

No brainer. Brakes alone. Plugs. Diff fluid change. Brake fluid. All that will be needed.

Get a micrometer and measure rotor thickness. Minimum thickness stamped on rotor hat.

Maintenance plan won't kick in until that is met or exceeded. I have the maintenance plan and while front rotor and pads were shot, only back pads. I suspect rear rotor will be approved before end of plan. Just not at the time of pad replacement. Call up BMW and ask what a brake job runs for the car. I bet you will be shocked. Likely near 5k all up four corners.

My brake pads in I-drive say service in 3100 miles. It has shown this for well over a year. The service department measures it whenever I go in because I complain that the service indicator never goes down. They tell me that's how the system was set up. My service warranty is up in August, I told them I need a brake pad change and an oil change and a spark plug change all before August. If the 3100 mile service indicator does not go down by July they agreed to change it all before I'm out of warranty.

I'm contemplating it seeing I need new pads and rotors as well

They won't do that, as they told me that my brakes "still have 3-4k miles left."

Last thing I want is to upfront someone $ and then having them dictating me when I do or don't need a certain service. Hence, decided to not give my $ to the stealership and do sh*t myself

Anyone has a thread to the brake job?
