CPO, BMW says doesn’t move to me?
Just wanted to ask here if this is true.
I see a lot of people selling their X5 and saying so much time is remaining on the CPO warranty. I purchased my X5 on March 28th and the previous owner had a CPO package that was due to expire 4/16/21. Before even purchasing I called BMW USA and they said yes it expires then and I will be fine. So come to beginning of May I call local dealer and they say “nope” doesn’t transfer over. I log into my online garage, it previously showed the cpo, but now it’s gone. I’m already unhappy because they told me I had it so I bought the car. Of course now I’m having issues as well and out of the 4/50 and the cpo is gone. Just not sure what I’d anything I can do but I see others are selling it and saying the cpo remains. Can I do anything here? 2016 35i 45k miles and needs: Rear diff resealed and the front thrust arm bushing are cracking |

It is 100% transferable with a nominal $200 fee, but needs to be orchestrated during the sale.

Thanks everyone for all this info. This is so infuriating because I called bmw USA and asked all this and was just told everything was good. Nothing about transfer papers or cost. And it’s been 2 months now since purchase.

It’s transferable within 60 days of sale. With $200 fee, check the dates of your sale you still might be close to the cutoff. But it does require notary for the seller of the car. I literally had mine submitted at day 60 and BMW accepted it. However I felt like I wasted $200 since hardly anything is covered.

I just hit 58000 miles and my X6 was in for service, it cost me $1020. I explained that service should be covered still. The dealer says, it was only until 50,000 and I'm at 58,000. BUT They were closed for 9 weeks for the coronavirus, I drive 1000+ miles a week their response was I could have taken it to another dealer that wasn't closed. It cost them $1020 for me to have all subsequent service at a dealer 15 miles in the opposite direction. I'm sure they don't care and don't need my service. But in 3.5 years when I'm shopping again, I'll have a relationship with a different dealer |
