Mine are still perfect with no prep work/sanding done to the tips prior to installation. But only one month old at the moment.

Cheap and very easy to do.

My driver's side tip has one small chip/flake on it. Easy fix, that works quite well for hiding it...a Sharpie!

I did mine inside a garage, you need to make sure theres no wind also!

Very easy to do though, just take plenty of time when you newspaper the body up!

I went over the top with mine, but it was my 1st effort and wasn't sure how precise I was going to be!

I just did my 3rd coat and its drying to more of a satin than a gloss.

Did you apply a clear gloss coat over it?

It won't be wet gloss. But glossier than satin I would say.

Somewhat on/off topic -- I am considering powder coating my 469m wheels black (can't decide more matte or glossy) and if I do, I will be painting/powder coating the ACS exhaust tips I got from Ben. My dealer has a guy who works with the local dealers by me to powder coat wheels and the turn around time is only 2 days @ $125 a wheel, so I'll probably have them do the exhaust tips at the same time.

^^ If you're getting the wheels done, I would have them do the tips at the same time. Gloss outer / matte inner looks best to match OEM.

^^^ Good product. I used the VHT high heat matte for the inner portion of the tip.

I have a sport exhaust I am getting ready to install on my 35i m sport. Has anyone cut off original tips and welded them on new exhaust?

Any issues or tips on what not to do.

How much for the black ones. Can you tell me how people are selling their old exhaust with the tips if they are welded on.

How long did it take for the paint to dry?

This will be my next mod for sure.

I left it overnight to to be sure that it is fully cured.

What's the best process for re-doing the tips? Mine have completely chipped away and look horrible! Standard paint thinner to remove everything down to bare chrome again?
