Additional feedback on the Carbotech 1521 pads I went with, following two weeks of driving...I washed my X5 last night, and the wheels were barely dusted at all. Very happy with these over what I've seen on the BMW OE side with these kits. Would highly recommend these pads to anyone looking for a great performer with low dust. Mike Puskar Jr. is the guy I dealt with @ Carbotech, he was great...very easy to deal with.

I kind of understood what you're referring too, as you said a little bit won't affect the performance, thanks though for the enlightenment, really do appreciate it.
I'm looking forward into swapping my pads with carbotech if this try ends up to a fail in reducing the squealing noise, I'll report on the outcome in due course.

I'm glad to read your feedback stewy, you won't believe the amount of the brake dust my OEM pads are generating every couple of days, not to mention the enormous squealing noise every time I'm pulling to a stop infront of the house in our quite neighborhood, it's almost sounded like a damn trailer!!

I'm thinking of getting these installed on my car. I'm not a fan of cross drilled rotors on an SUV so most likely will just go with the kit. But I have one concern: will these clear the factory 18" spare donut?

You will need to factor in ordering a E70/F85 spare if you get these brakes. I think the stock spare fits over the rear brakes just not the fronts so if you get a flat up front you might be able to swap the rear wheel up front first then swap the spare on the back. Twice the work. Someone should confirm if this actually works though. Don't take my word for it because I never actually tried.

You can get the rim for 250-350 on eBay
Only problem is the tire on them are usually 10-15 years old. So even if never used, DOT suspect and expired. Also not sure it needs special hardware, sellers never have that. And finally a jack. All new materials are like 550-600. Crazy. Cheaper to get plug and spray. And pay for hire party tow service.

Do you remember the coded values? I'd like to verify my setup is still coded correctly.

Thanks

Apparently the coding raises the pressure in the "vacuum accumulator", and thus alters pedal feel and effort. Very happy customer with these brakes. Now, to find touch up paint that will be a close match to the blue calipers.
I too wonder if the standard brake kit can support the coding.

I feel like the only issue with our 40e is the brakes!

Believe that is the X5/6M brakes. M performance BBK is 4 piston front, single piston sliding caliper rear. Also just noticed radial pins for floating discs are different design than what I have.

The front brake from M5 and rear one from F86 except the caliper. Rear caliper is Brembo adopted and painted to this brake system.

That sounds like a $5000 brake job lol but exactly what I want to do.
