So @Chile1, did you get the fog lights working successfully? Yes, mine has those codes too because of the Euro switch. It doesn't affect the operation or function of the lights, however the 'ghost codes' will always remain.

that's the question i was hoping you could answer which you did. So then regardless of the codes you program, the "ghost codes" will always remain.

You're not talking about error messages on the dash, correct? This is the code that my switch gives me (D90D16). Otherwise, you have nothing no worry about. Enjoy!

Hello guys,
I am joining into this subject.
I have also bought a European light switch containing the rear fog button.
It was successfully replaced and without any coding seems to work on US spec tail lights.
The problem seems to me that the inner turn signal lights up instead of the regular rear fog lamp.
I haven't done any coding but checked the REM which seems to be set to the right settings shared all over the forum:

HTML Code:
REM -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_L_output: nsl_l
REM -> Mapping_Nebelschlussl_R_output: nsl_r

FEM_BODY
3060 NSL_Verbaut: verbaut
Does anyone know how to make the original rear fog lights to light up?

Here is example how it is currently.

When the Euro rear fog switch is installed and coded, does the "Brake Force" function of the tail lights still work when emergency braking when the fog switch is set to off?

Dealer had to order the switch from Germany. Took 2 weeks and cost $180. Install took 5 minutes. Just pop out the panel with a trim tool (you have to pull INSANELY hard and it feels like you're going to break it but you're not) and then unclip the cord and pop the new one in.

How did you pull the vent ?

I’ve never pulled this trim before…but a quick look at the diagram for this section of the dash…lists #7 as the trim for the light switch…and #17 + #2 are the trim pieces that’s around the air vent:

EDIT: here’s the instructions from the TIS on removal of the switch unit and the surrounding trim pieces:
