Active harness does few things like, disabling the back-up sensors when reversing yet keeping the reverse camera going. Also helps with the stability control ... Needs to be programmed and I am sure they do that remotely too

I was told it's recommended if you are into towing heavy stuff though

Correct and SH will provide the coding instructions as well and that price is already factored in

Here's what I was told by them about the active harness.

" For vehicles with electronic towing communication features, we offer compatible active hitches for most makes and models. Common features for these vehicles are trailer stability control, disabling back up sensors when a trailer is connected electrically, and rear camera zoom for trailer connection.

Theresa at Stealth Hitches (SH) is the contact person and would love to answer any questions any member might have about the hitches.

I'm interested in learning more about this new active harness from SH. The harness I received last year from SH senses signals from the brake wiring and feeds this to a trailer. I used the OE harness from BMW instead.

It sounds like there is a new model but I can't imagine how they are integrating with the OE electronics without using the BMW trailer module.

Please keep us posted on how this turns out, I want to learn more.
