Hood open warning light

2014 50i 60k miles. Keep getting a caution hood open dash warning and stored trouble code in the computer. Ifs starting to drive me nuts. It's intermittent, I suspect maybe the switch under the hood is on it's way out. Anyone had thos issue? Any tips? Location of the sensor?

the switch/contact is built into 1 of the 2 latch mechanism.

it appears to be number 8, and looks like u need to replace the whole latch

Is it possible that the switch is working but not making continuous contact? You could try adjusting (10, 11):

There may also be some adjustment in the position of the latch.

From the link TOPEC posted to the TIS website...it appears you may be easily able to determine if the hood contact switch is the culprit by simply UNPLUGGING it.

See the text highlighted in yellow below. If the switch isn't connected, the CAS module should assume that it is closed. So if you unplug it, and the warning stops appearing...then plug it back in and the warning reappears...then you have found your culprit.

Before replacing the switch...I'd try the test above to rule it out as the culprit.
