Are there 2 different sport gear shift levers
I just noticed the gear shift lever on a 2015 X5 50i (w/sport pkg) that has an M on it. I don't ever recall noticing this before. When I ran the VIN through a decoder site...it does list that it has the 2VF Adaptive M chassis option code. Does this option code give a different gear shift lever with an M on it...or was this something one of the previous owners added as a "vanity" modification...or is this an "M" performance piece that can be officially purchased?
sport gear shift without ///M *** versus *** sport gear shift with ///M

You can order that plastic insert off of Ebay for like $15. Check out my thread and you can see how I swapped mine over.

Thanks for the info/education. I thought I had missed/overlooked information...I even checked the part database sites and none indicated an ///M gearshift "insert" for the handle. I was thinking how did I miss this. I do appreciate your help in clearing up my confusion.
