Thank you!!! That was actually the info I found. I'm going to check a few of them out in detail so I'm in complete understanding. One thing though... I don't think I have a steering wheel heater, or a sport steering wheel for that matter. It smaller in diameter than what I consider to be a "sport" steering wheel.

The button for the heated steering wheel is on the left side of the steering column near to where the steering wheel adjuster is....

My goodness, I DO have a heated steering wheel. And it does have Chrome on it... You're a wealth of knowledge! I may be back... Getting conflicting opinions on what a blowby heater is.

"I believe that is the same thing they describe as "Residual Heat" in the options for the interior climate control. Basically the way it works is if you push the buttom on your dash it will open up a vent that will allow warm air from the engine compartment to flow into the vehicle for about 15 minutes after you have shut off the engine." You also have the SoftCloseAutomatic option for the doors, my kids never get tired of that - if the door isn't fully latched, it will pull itself the rest of the way closed

FTM is the more basic version which, as I understand it, uses the speed sensors in each wheel and compares rotational speeds to check if there is a differential between wheels.

Exactly. After being fed up of the issue and bugging the dealer again and again, he gave me the iPod connecter and the iPod to USB. This works and it is for freeeee!!!! The only freebie I'll ever get from BMW Last edited by sajmani; 11-26-2019 at 10:02 AM.. |

I valeted my car the other day and later at home, noticed the valet somehow dented my steering wheel emblem. Is this a massive safety hazard which will require a costly $$$ replacement, and if so, which parts? Or is it just a cheap little piece that has to be replaced (but is still a massive safety hazard until fixed)? Or is it not a safety hazard at all?
I'll be working with the valet company either way, but I want to get an idea of what problems I'm facing. |

Um, I appreciate the post, but my question is quite serious - is this dent a serious safety hazard? As in, could this potentially be turning a life-saving device into a shrapnel bazooka? I understand the airbag deploys through that emblem hole anyway, but I am trying to determine whether this dent compromises its integrity in such a way that bad things will happen if the airbag deploys in its current state.

Haha, me too - but it's worth it. Might as well enjoy whilst we can, before ICE are banned completely

New to me, 2013 BMW X5. Having an issue with the hatchback opening and closing. It only opens about a third of the way, then another third, and then the final third when pressing the button. On closing it only goes part way down and the only way to close it is to apply force when it’s closing.
Anyone know how to fix this? |

The whole panel in the centre of the steering wheel pops open while staying attached to the steering wheel. The force of the airbag opening deploying forces the panel to open up and hinge out of the way. The only time you might get hit by debris is from a defective Takata airbag deploying. |
