At first I didn't like the design but I got use to it. I guess if we want actual tips we have to upgrade to a X5M

It doesn't really matter how many times I look at it, always makes me laugh. What a joke G05 design is. My 6 years old diesel has a nicer exhaust tips.

I actually like the exterior design of the G05. In Msport guise. The regular one looks terrible. However, its the interior that I dont like. The center console/shifter area thats all shiny and doesnt have real buttons is what i really dont like. To me its a big step in the wrong direction.

I spent almost 2 weeks with G05 loaner. (xdrive 40i, base car, 19"). My car is 2016 F15 xdrive 35i with Msport and 20" stock wheels, standard suspension. Here are some feedback.

1) Driving dynamic: G05 and F15 feels like a different cars. F15 even in its base form seems to be more sporty. G05 feels more like a luxury car, quiet, softer ride even with run-flat (20" / 21" will likely give you a better handling). G05 in Sport mode seems more relaxed than F15 sport mode. Power is there but you have to step on it. This may be one of the main reasons one would pick F15 over G05 vice versa.

2) Technology. This is where G05 shines even in the base car (my loaner does not have any options, $62k car). Nav screen is noticable bigger than the one in F15. The new iDrive feels like a different system than the previous iDrive. Split screen is there but the information shows are different than the previous one. You have a new home screen that can show 3 or 4 different items (Nav, Phone, music etc.) There are 3 keys options, one is your standard comfort access key which could be set to lock and unlock the car as you get close to it or walk away (I really like this). 2nd is the digital credit-card size key. It uses NFC, once programmed (user programmable in the idrive) it can open the door and start the car, you do need to touch the card to the door handle and put it in the phone storage in front of cup holder to start the car. This works well also as emergency key or if you would let friend/family members use the car. You can disable digital key any time you'd like. 3rd option is to use your phone as a key, it works the same way as key card except it can be linked to your profile. The BMW voice assistance works better than MBUX from Mercedes. You can disable it or change the name and it doesn't come up everytime you say BMW (only hey BMW or hello BMW). The Mercedes one comes up everytime someone say the word Mercedes. I find them very annoying. The digital dash works well but I wish that you can configure it more to show different information or has a different gages. You can open the trunk/hatch by kicking movement. Panoramic Sunroof only open about the size of standard sunroof. In the F15, you have two options. First is standard size and push the button again will open larger size. I personally prefer F15. Adaptive LED is standard and it's about the same as my adaptive LED on my F15. Laser light is optional and if you can code it the way it's intended for, it will have much longer range compare to LED.

Interior space feels about the same. Standard rear seat cannot recline. I don't see sunglasses holder in G05, not sure if this is optional now. Blind spot monitor, parking assistance and surround view camera are standard. Adaptive cruise control isn't.

I went on BMW website to see what a well-equipt G05 xdrive 40i can be configured with a different suspension. Looks like air suspension is the only option and may improve handling/comfort. I didn't see adaptive M or DHP as an option for the 40i, you may need to step up to a V8 to get those options.

If you value comfort, G05 feels more relaxed, comfortable and quieter. F15 feels more sporty and responsive. G05 reminds me of how Mercedes drives. Not that it's good or bad. Just different.

Hope this helps.

Wanted to buy the X5 45e to replace my - fully loaded - X5 40e,.....
But I do not see any big developments .... I do not need illuminated sunroof and chunky big key fob...., most of all - my opinion - my X5 40e with M-Style looks much better than M-Style on GO5.

Otherwise my f15 still looks new.

I will probably move onto a X5 M50 when the prices drop.
