I saw this one in person last week. As a heads up to interested parties, the car has a new engine in it (which the dealer will disclose) because the original owner had aftermarket software on the car and it threw a rod through the block. Car also missed the break-in maintenance by ~1,000 miles which is why it's not certified.

Personally, I passed because it's priced like a clean CPO car, rather than one with that history and only 8 months of warranty left. It's also not as clean as the mileage would suggest (still has original tires which are dry rotted).

Thanks for sharing ..not so good of a deal after all. Curious if BMW would support a purchased extended warranty with such history?

I was told by that dealer that a warranty could be added. I'd want to negotiate it into the purchase price, primarily to be assured the vehicle would qualify (not to mention, the new engine isn't even broken in yet).

Lol a busted engine 16 X5M should cost legit 50k. You can get a loaded 16 with 24k miles CPO for 60-65

Wonder who paid for the engine, the owner, the tuning company (?) or the BMW?

I know the owner traded the car in on something else and the dealership has it in the shop for a while because the engine was back-ordered. Purely a guess, but I doubt the owner got much on trade-in with a blown motor where aftermarket parts were involved. What I wonder, is if BMW paid for the motor and thus the current dealership is into very cheap.
