not sure if this has been asked, there are quite a few on ebay but all say HUD, does this even matter for those that dont have HUD?

From what I've seen on the web, you just don't use it.

Also be aware that the newer clusters had different Rom chips where you can't lower the milage and the one you buy should be less miles than your current vehicle.

Guys, I had the 6wb installed today on my 2017 x5. I previously had 6WA. My coder remotely coded the cluster and it carried all info over. Now, the problem I have is HUD does not work. My car has hud and 6wb has the hud plug which I plugged in. HUD doesn't not show up anymore, and when I go to idrive setting the adjustments do not respond either. Anyone know what I can do? TIA

Does it come on at all? When you start the car? Might be a problem with 6WB cluster, what part number did you get?

No it doesn't at all. When I go into I drive display settings for HUD, it doesn't respond to what I'm adjusting. The coder said he couldn't see option to code HUD. I'm thinking it's not compatible to f15 even though it has hud

Are you sure you got one that is compatible with HUD. There are threads citing the specific part numbers.

This is part number 62108796115. I ran it on real OEM website and it indicated for f15. Maybe something my coder missed?

This is the right part number, I have the same one and HUD is working. Well check the physical connection first.
Then make sure 6WB was VO coded.
Make sure this was done:

Also, VO Code HU_NBT so that the navigation syncs correctly with your 6WB. I noted this below with one of the issues I faced. So to be clear for everyone, you must "CODE" DKOMBI and HU_NBT.

Thank for the tips. I had another coder from UK Bravarian coding who specializes digital cluster retrofit for bmw helped me last night. Super nice guy, I found him on FB and he helped me with no charge even though he did not offer coding service remotely. He said he's coded hundreds of these 6wb units. He recoded my unit and ran diagnostics. Came to believe that the hardware inside could be f F10 instead of f15. Basically f10 hardware sitting inside of f15 shell. That's why everything else works fine except for HUD because the wrapping data is different for HUD from the 2 Fs. Sigh. Shady seller

Not sure what do you mean by "correct scale", usually your navigation just doesn't show up if you did not code HU_NBT.

Not sure if this was answered previously and based on opasha's guide it seems like the answer is no - but is it necessary to disconnect the battery when swapping clusters?

No, you don't need to disconnect the battery.

Random question, but I purchased a (used) cluster and it is missing the metal mounting clips. Can these be xfered from my old cluster to the new one easily?

It seems that after I installed the 6WB that pushing the shift knob to the left no longer activates Sport mode as it used to previously when I had the 6WA installed. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to code this back in?

Not sure which knob on the left you are referring to, modes are switched by the buttons next to the shifter between Sport-Comfort-Eco (and Sport+ if coded).

Ditto Red_Y_...if you are referring to popping the gear shift lever over to the left...that is STEPTRONIC Transmission's M/S modes. If you just move the gear shift lever to the left and leave it alone...that is the STEPTRONIC sport mode and only affects the transmission and engine. This is NOT your driving experience SPORT MODE that changes not just the tranny & engine mapping...but the steering & suspension as well. The driving experience sport mode will also change the 6WB cluster's to a "red" sport display.

Again, moving the gearshift lever over to the left is the STEPTRONIC transmission feature/function/option which is explained in the owners manual (which can be found using the embedded manual in iDrive, too).
