Front drive skip

When reversing from going forward and cutting the wheel hard to one side the front behaves as a it's locked into gear for a brief second( its like a clunk)? Anyone have any experience with this

Yes, I have noticed this in certain situations. It reminds me of the way an older 4x4 feels if you leave it in 4x4 on the pavement. I can't tell if it's in the drivetrain or steering motor.

That's exactly what it feels like.

I have the same issue with my car. But I mainly feel it during the cold snowy months. Haven’t found a fix.

Since your front tires are turned to lock it sounds like the truck wants to back-up straight and for an instant the front fully turned tires are being dragged a bit instead of moving at an angle and are chattering and stressing the front end somewhere.

True but most awd vehicles don't do that

I have started having this same issue when cold out on the summer tires. But, also started showing itself after replacement of front hubs and transfer case. I'm continuing to monitor the temp vs pop noise to try and understand if there is a correlation. Also changing from really worn Pirelli summers to the conti DWS. I can report back as to if tires make a difference.
