So recently I took my X6M in for some service and found out the hydraulic sway bar is leaking oil. My 2016 X6M has 36000miles(58000kms) and luckily I have extended warranty. So far she has been in the dealer for two days now, and I just got a call and they asked for two more days. My question is does it really take this long to replace the hydraulic sway bar? Also will this affect my alignment?

From the picture. The sub frame also has corrosion, I live in Calgary, and the winter is 6 months long, but I don't think that was caused by the road salt. Anyway, the dealer said they couldn't do anything about the corrosion and told me it's normal and don't worry about it.

I might consider at least wire brush or sand disc and then RustOlem

You have to do some PM (Preventative Maintenance) yourself.... The longer your let corrosion sit, the more metal it will eat up.

I had mine done @ 19,000 miles last spring for the leaking sway bar. Dropped it off Monday, part arrived Wednesday and car was ready Thursday afternoon. I think warranty paid around $3,600 for the repair.

Finally picked her up yesterday, I didn't expect to cost them that much to replace it. Looks like they need to drop the subframe to do the work, so probably the labor alone is over 1k.

Do you remember if they had to do an alignment along this service?

I don't believe so. It wasn't on my paperwork and car drove the same afterwards.

I also had a leak, months ago when I was doing my brake flush. All that was needed was tightening the fasteners where the hard line goes in. Done no more leaks.

It's common for HSB to leak and it's not just this platform seems like it's just a Bimmer thing lol.
