Am I just bad at parking?
Anyone think the beast is hard to park? I have driven everything from an E36 to a Toyota Land Cruiser and never had trouble parking, but for some reason all my prior parking capability seems to have flown out the window. The thing is an absolute blast to drive, but I can't seem to park it with ease. Is the turning radius horrible or does the wheelbase take some getting used to? Or...am I just bad at parking?

Haven't found the X5 and harder to park than any other car, but if it makes you feel any better, I think my parking skills deteriorated all of the sudden about a year ago. I find that I'm always crooked in spaces now. Out of nowhere! The overhead cameras are extremely helpful in this regard.

Its all the things BMW add to help you park, including parking itself all together. It sought of dumbs you out. Other things I've notice ever since was the rear camera/sensors says no more space but there's still space and you DONT wanna bump the car behind you. Mirror tilts occasionally lol . Sometimes it wanna show 360 sometimes rear camera.. the inconsistencies. If you had none of it from start you'll probably be that excellent parker you've always known yourself to be lol

Last weekend, I tried parking in a spot six times, yes six times. For the life of me, I couldn't get it in straight. The girlfriend just looked at me and started laughing. The backup camera kept throwing me off. I just had a open the door and follow the lines in the parking lot.

Well, looks like I just need to go back to driving school. I did feel a little better when I found out that my parking space in my building was actually a “compact” spot. Hopefully time will heal this embarrassing wound...

Speaking of parking, I generally post in the X3M forum, as I have a 2020 X3MC, but I do have a question about the cameras in the X5. The Hubby has a 2018 X5M that he's had since the spring of 2019. I don't drive it often, but I swear that when we first got it, the surround view camera showed all around the car, the way my X3's camera does. Am I misremembering? The X5 now only shows the lines around, not the actual camera view. We do get camera view of what's behind the car, but not what's around or in front. Is what we're seeing the way it should be, or it there's a setting out of whack that can be reset.
Thanks.

For parallel parking, I definitely use the mirrors pointing them down at the curb. And I also get out and look, not worth a trip to the wheel repair shop $$$
