Replaced the steering wheel trim

After swapping out the aluminum trim with the CF pieces, I had to replace the steering wheel trim with the CF piece from the M performance wheel. I only ordered the trim piece because I didn't want to lose the steering wheel heater functionality and alcantara looks good until it starts to wear...especially from the oils in your hands.

Looks good. But still got room for more CF (ie shifter and center console...). Just sayin.

Looks good dude. Good call on the alcantara on the steering wheel.

And no more carbon! This isn't a Civic Type R. 🤪

Going to have to respectfully ask people to stop posting things like this. Going to cost me a fortune. Looks great on the wheel and I want that M Perfoemance dash trim in a bad way.

This is approach I took earlier this year, replaced not only the steering wheel trim, but also the shift knob and center console all in Carbon Fiber. It certainly changes the whole appearance of the vehicles interior.
And I also changed out the pedal covers for ///M versions, unfortunately I don't have photos saved on my work computer.

I did it myself. The trickiest part involved sticking in a flathead screwdriver to push the spring mechanism that retains the airbag. Everything else is very straightforward.

I do like that alcantara/CF piece better than the stock piano black/CF piece

Looks great! I have the smaller CF trim that replaces the brushed aluminum piece but after seeing this, I'm thinking I should get the one like yours.

Many thanks managed to fit it myself this afternoon.

Matches my dash and gear lever.

Next is the gear surround area looks like I may have to have this carbon dipped as the part number for right hand drive vehicles is no longer available

The decorative CF pieces around steering wheel controls, look great in the advertisement but generally doesn't look as nice on your wheel. I personally think it looks a little janky.....

We have a Hispanic guy here in Northern VA, that has a C63 AMG. And he has every piece of Carbon Fiber you could ever put on a C63 on it. If you can name it, he's got it. There is such a thing as too much carbon fiber, it's called carbon overload.

For me, I like the right amount of interior and exterior carbon fiber pieces to accentuate the vehicle. A good friend of mine bought a CF steering wheel for his E55 AMG, quality is 100%.

But after looking at it, it's carbon overload. When I replaced my steering wheel, I went a different route.

This wheel has held up well for me, I've contemplated doing my X5M. I wish that someone would make an Alcantara steering wheel that retains the heating feature.

Yea the F85 handles the carbon much better than the E55 AMG interior. The OPs interior looks fantastic. I agree I am not a fan of carbon in the speedo area and on older interiors but on modern interiors the right amount of carbon works. Especially with the Mugello interior.

This is my E63.. The CF Speedo is reminiscent of the C63 AMG Black Series. Most people really like, but it's not for everyone.

Looks awesome, do you have a part number for those?

Noice! Do you get any 'ghost' or error codes when you installed your ceramics?

My attempt at a carbon steering wheel finally done! Not without some issues, the carbon trim piece I received around the airbag wasn't for the right M so I just used my stock piece for now instead of taking it all apart again!
