Its all easy but you have to be brave, also open the right door when you take it off.

Any way to get an anodized start button in red? I would prefer something more of an upgrade than just the color and considering the effort and cost perhaps an anodized piece is something to consider. I have seen the aluminum rings which get the job done but do not look as good as a metal button may look.

We have no plans to offer a metal button due to cost for tooling on them.

It's super easy bro. The easiest trim removal I've ever done on a vehicle. And I was concerned too at first. Just grab some rubber gloves. Open the glove box and from the passenger seat grab under it and gently pull straight out. It will come with ease.

i purchase all new clips whenever working with interior trim pieces. they never really fit right after they are removed and considering the price it is a small fee to pay for reassurance and a rattle free interior.

Where do you purchase new clips from?

Dealership. If you were local I'd give you as many as you need. I have a tool box full of OEM trimp clips and retainers for Audi, BMW, LR, MB & RR. All the usual suspects that crack, break or are one time use.

I just got one from Amazon and instructions say to use sticky adhesive tape and apply to OEM button and then pull out. They don't require you to remove the trim. Even customers say that Trim removal is not necessary. Can anyone confirm?

It snaps in from behind. But since you already bought it then why not try it and tell us?!

So I got my Red button today and the install was two minutes with this method that I used. No need to remove the trim. See pictures. Only thing needed was sticky adhesive which was supplied with the button. You can also use 3M Double sided tape as well

Step 1:
Apply Sticky adhesive to OEM Button

Step 2:
Make adhesive to where you can have a firm grip so you can pull it out

Step 3:
Grab the adhesive and pull out fast

Step 4:
Button is released

Step 5:
Install new button and your ready to go. Two minutes tops.

Not much less than IND (but the free two day shipping for prime is a plus) but the install is easier for sure.

The installation would be the same I believe. Can't imagine they design a specific button just for The x5m.

I'm assuming so. Can't imagine it would be a different design.
