BlewX5m so you painted the bottom air scoop in red color?

Interesting. Definitely matches your car color nice.

Quick update to my story.

So I am still getting same error code/check engine light even with dry filters that AFE mailed me.
My BMW dealer did a smoke test and there was no leaks. Somehow my cars brainscould not adjust for extra air I guess...

Today I started my return. Customer service guy and return department person was really great to work with. No issues. They documented all the problems I had and told me there will be no restocking fee too.
I received a prepaid return label few minutes later.

Even though this intake didn't work for me it is still a really good product and maybe will work for others. I will really miss that turbo sound

Back to my Dinan intake.

I had a CEL issue before on my porsche when I added an intake. It turned out that the new intake created turbulent flow as opposed to a laminar flow from the stock intake, creating spikes in the MAF reading. When I added a grated filter inline to direct the air flow, it solved the problem. Looking at the Afe design, right before the MAF you have a major bend in addition to the diameter change. I can see this creating higher air velocity at the expense of increased turbulence. I suspect this could be the problem but can't say for sure unless logging the MAF readings.

My AFE unit is just sitting in my garage lol. I have an RK unit on the way and will be quite pissed if it throws a CEL considering the price point.

I really did love the sound of the AFE unit, and the throttle responsiveness.

I can double that. I had a tune and catless downpipes before i installed the RK intakes, afterward no issues or lights. Also being able to see the filters through the grill is just awesome

So I just got the RK intakes. Included was two pieces of velcro. Does anyone know where the velcro is supposed to be applied?

It goes underneath the intake where they would touch the top of the radiator.

Does anybody know if AFE is producing updated intakes to avoid the engine warning light?
I'm gonna hit them and see what they say!
I'll keep you all updated

Hello
So I reached out to AFE about the new updated intakes and they said they have updated their units and shouldn't have an issue .

I am using the old system and haven't gotten the cel light , I am not tuned and don't have an exhaust.
