I had my sway bar replaced under warranty at 19k miles due to leaking. But other than that no issues. $3,600 repair to BMW.

Some issues my X5M had.

Rear differential fluid leak replaced and covered by warranty at 25K miles ($5000 or so per dealership). Steering column replaced under warranty at 30K mi (not sure how much it would cost out of pocket, but I'm sure it's at least $500). Rear air bags recently replaced at 35K mi - out of warranty ($700 parts/labor at indy shop - Dealership cost at least double that).

Nothing "major"; but it's a BMW and expect issues to arise.

2016 X5M. It was a 2+ yr lease with 18K miles. All services were done at the dealership. Only performance mod is Dinan exhaust, all the issues but the rear air bags were before the exhaust mod.

Rear airbags are 300 for the set and a 20 minute installs. Those will go out for sure.

2015 X6M 52k miles, done under warranty:
- Steering column
- Driver door soft-lock
- Bloody squeaky front brakes replaced multiple times
- Front wheels chuttering noise when cornering

Now that it's outta warranty, noticing right rear airbag leaks only when I repark the car, e.g. pull out of the garage and park in the drive way or vice versa.

Don't wait too long to replace the airbags, they are fast and cheap to fix compared to the $$$$ compressor that is overworking to compensate for the leaks.

My 2016 X6M has 36k miles and the sway bar also leaking, the dealer just replaced it under warranty. Wow, I didn't know it was a 3600 dollar job.

I replaced them myself with arnott bags - easy and now problem solved. Set me back around $350 but they have lifetime replacement warranty, so if they break again, I get new bags for free.

I am right around the corner at 60,000 miles, and luckily I have had a single issue. But keeping my fingers crossed. My X5M is going in for both front and rear differential flushes, transfer case flush and transmission flush next week.

I just purchased a 2017 X5M with 72,000 miles. I had a 3rd party inspection done and everything looked good. After driving it home, I immediately noticed an oil leak in my driveway and it turned out to be a leaking upper oil pan gasket. $3,400 estimate for repair as the front suspension has to be removed to access it. Fortunately I was able to get the Chevrolet dealership I bought the vehicle from to pay for the repair. I'm not able to get an extended warranty as the vehicle has a Stage 2 Dinan Package. Hopefully no more major issues going forward.

So I was told by the dealer one time that the upper oil pan and lower were leaking… took it to my local shop and it was the oil sensor leaking saved me a lot of money and is a common problem before the gaskets leak
