Brake Pad & Rotor Replacement Timing?
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com My dealer is offering "full coverage", including the items mentioned above, through the 3 year/36,000 mile period for a cost of $700. If I want to take all coverage out to 4 years/50,000 miles, the cost is $2149. For those of you who've had your X5M for close to 2 years and/or 36,000 miles, how are your brake pads and rotors holding up? I would expect them to last beyond that period, but it's a heavy beast. I only put about 10,000 miles per year on my car, so I don't think I'd get the benefit of the extended coverage and I'm inclined to "self-insure". But I'd appreciate some feedback from the group on how your brakes are wearing as you rack up the miles (understanding that brake wear is heavily dependent on driving style/conditions). Thanks in advance! |

The front rotors and pads of my 2015 F86 needed to be replaced at 27k miles. They also screeched a lot. The rears are ok and could go for another 2 years. Hope this helps.

You also needed ROTORS at 27k miles?! Were the warped or something from track duty? Otherwise rotors should last well beyond 27k miles. What am I missing?

You're right, my case was an unusual one- they were replaced under warranty due to persistent complaints of brakes screeching. The pads were almost gone in any case. No track duty.
