I just had mine done. After 5 years the original was in good shape. With 6 months of winter up here windshields tend to take a beating. It had a few small cracks 3-4 inches and some minor chips but overall the pitting was extremely minimal and clarify of the screen was top notch. Its taken some pretty big hits too that I thought would of cracked it. It was made by Guardian.
I went through insurance and was offered the OEE glass made by FYG or Fuyao. I chose to work with SpeedyGlass and got the OEM screen from one of the local dealers. The cost difference ($200) was minimal compared to the hazing or other issues some have had with FYG. The screen I got was made by Carlex and is crystal clear. As with the original, no hazing or distortion seen. HUD is fine. No calibration required. Lets see how this one holds up. I'll try and stay ontop of getting chips filled faster this time around. |

I have Geico and I told them that I want an OEM windshield.
All they asked me was if my vehicle has HUD, which it does. I got an OEM windshield from Safelite installed at home. It's your insurance company, you pay for it, ask them for what you want. |
