I'm pulling out of the group buy, just seems like an unfinished product to me after reading all reviews. It looks like the only one that comes close to the oem is bimmertechs since you can use the integrated mic but since it's pricey might as well spend 2k and retrofit the oem idrive.

As much as I like my joyeauto unit the oem mic is tempting. How do you think they compare?

From what I gather from the F30 guys, the various mfg'rs have the CarPlay side figured out. It's the Android Auto side that needs improvement. Still kind of bug ridden, AA software wise. Depends what camp you're in, I guess. Still I'd be curious to try it out.

- can you still do split screen (main screen Apple car play and split something else)
- does Apple car play Navi show up on heads up display?

It's a problem with AA in general. It wasn't until recently that they did proper widescreen support. Before, it was quasi-widescreen support (it split the widescreen so that there was a clock on the right side). I think Toyota still has the quasi-widescreen for AA and only a few have proper widescreen.

I'm probably going to wait it out and try to read reviews on the screen replacement android units - not sure if android auto on those has proper widescreen or not yet (since I think you just load the app).

Not that I'm aware of. You may want to check over on the F30 board, since these kits are compatible with the Fxx, and it's very active over there.

Strange, maybe a connection got loose?
I usually get the black screen for the car play itself, still able to go back to idrive screen and resets upon reboot.

While it’s black, are you able to play any music, get notifications and or use Siri?
