I've seen many forums talking about NBT ID4 CarPlay products they recommend adding to their F15 2015's, but I have seen no one mention this https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtqAg9Y is this a good product? Has anyone installed this into their F15 2015's?

You don't need that, they have carplay already it just needs coding and a wifi antenna installing.

Nope, they are not. 2014-2016 MY doesn't have carplay "already". At least for US market.

All these MMI boxes are the same, just different vendors add their own customized software. Bimmertech,Joyauto,Andream whatever. Use search, plenty of information here.

NBT Evo ID5/ID6 can have carplay coded without any hardware other than an antenna.

Correct. For US market NBT ID4 was in production 2014-2016. OP asked about 2015 F15 so adding antenna and coding is not an option.

The device I linked has an antenna, but is similar to Andream device, what worries me is one of the cons on Andreams is: "Does not have a vented box like Joyeauto (potentially heat may cause issues)" so I'm trying to figure out if users have had issues with the device linked.

I think that the JoyeAuto is an older box. All the other ones do have vented sides but it's not going to get that hot. These boxes are mostly streaming boxes as the majority of the work is done on your phone.

I have the RoadTop version (an older one which at that time was a rebadged Andream) and haven't had any issues. I'd go with one of the bigger names (Andream, RoadTop, Carlinkit and Bimmertech) so you can get at least a few updates (or find them easier for the big names from here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1675929).

Mr12Volt is supposedly releasing one for the NBT ID4 soon-ish. Their's is a little different in that the audio doesn't go through AUX but through the MOST bus (although, it sounds just fine through AUX for me).

Bimmertech is probably the best supported but the most expensive followed by Carlinkit/RoadTop/Andream. Mr12volt seems to be well supported but will probably slot in between the other two tiers pricewise.

Did you have issues with calling someone using CarPlay? Because most individuals that received this item, reported they had issues calling someone using RoadTop CarPlay.

I don't use Carplay but Android Auto. That problem might be limited to only the older firmware; that was over a year ago. These boxes now have an option to use the OEM BMW bluetooth setup for phone calls. It's why I haven't bought any of those screen replacements (yet). If you look at the thread I posted earlier, nearly all those units are the same and are only different depending on the firmware loaded on them (although now they are locked down so you can't load Andream firmware on a Carlinkit box, etc). But because the firmware is so similar between the boxes, any issues typically aren't limited to just one manufacturer.

xxxJAKOBxxx, I had looked at those, do you know if they use the internal mic in the unit or the oem bmw bluetooth setup for phone calls?

We've established that if you actually read the thread, didn't realised the older ones have the different NBTs. 🥱

Do you have any feedback on this since installing? Any pics or videos of it in use?

Thanks!

You can swap a newer nbt with an antenna into an older f15 and get carplay. I've done it on a few around me. If you want I can connect you with the guy that sells the newer nbt units vin coded to your car.

It's expensive, $1,300 or so. However, you're getting an oem BMW unit and it works seamlessly.
