Seems to be the logical next best thing but I am not sure if I'd lose things like the HUD and there are obvious bumps in transition to things like camera
I'll send you a PM. Please, let's keep the thread for what it is focused on and not veer off to CarPlay MMI and other enablers of the kind as there are already a ton of threads for that type of stuff that can be found with a search. Thank you

Thanks for the tip and cool to keep it focused on 3G shutdown - innocently asking about other solutions since it seems BMW NA isn't really interested in helping resolve or even clean in what's affected

No worries, it's just that a lot of threads on here people innocently veer off the initial topic to other topics and when people are reading they might loose interest because it's not what they want to read about.

This whole 3G issue is not the end of the world, but it's just sad that BMW chose to wipe their hands clean when we all know something can be done. I sent you a PM on the matter 🤙🏽

Posting my update here that I also posted in the other thread about this. I was able to contact my dealership and provide the BMW service bulletin that another user posted. My 2015 is now going in on Tuesday for a free hardware upgrade to ensure services are not lost

Hey guys sorry I didn't post this here

EDIT: okay guys so I looked into this further and verified that the F15 will not be eligible for the retrofit of any sort. This was verified through a warranty administrator which contacted BMW NA to verify for me.
Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up I apologize for the incorrect information

Got an e-mail from the dealership, this SIB doesn't apply to my VIN.

What is the criteria to determine that?

Is it because of year or F15 had not been equipped with 4G?

They pretty much said there's no repair for this model at this time that's why the f15/f16 are not listed for the hardware retrofit. The only repair for the f15/f16 is determining if the I-level is lower than f025-16-11-5xx if so program vehicle and perform update services see pic below.

I'm assuming doing this transfers the 3g to 4g (don't quote me on this) but since this is the only repair that's what I'm guessing

Sorry guys
I'm confused. Reading that doc it sure sounds like this is to explicitly update the hardware to work with 4G, and it lists the F15 as being covered....

Yes but for the f15/f16 it is only the programming.
When looking at the hardware/software repair, f15/f16 is not listed for that repair at all

Anyone that knows better can correct me,

but updating the I-Level only updates the ECUs in the vehicles to newer firmware. I upgraded the I-Level myself a few months back as it had a 2016 and now it has 2020. I haven't fiddled around with coding (except what I wanted) but one thing I noticed by upgrading the ECUs is that now I have more options to code different colors for the lighting package. The names won't change on the iDrive menu, but it will light up with the different color you coded.

Other than that (obviously) I feel like the vehicle is performing somewhat better and when I run my ISTA+ I don't get random recorded errors in ECUs 🤷🏽

You can check your I-Level easy… just export your driver profile to a USB, connect to a laptop, then open the file and somewhere in the first few rows you'll see what I-Level your vehicle is programmed with. A lot of people don't upgrade their I-level if the vehicle is not experiencing any issues from what I've read in other forums.

There is a step to check vin at another system and based on outcome they will either proceed with hardware, update software or express their condolences.

I'm still finding it hard to understand how all of these retrofits are being done for other models and no options other than "condolences, thoughts and prayers" are being given to F15 owners

Should we be giving this a few months before really raising rancor?

My dealer called to say the parts came in to do this on my F15...I mentioned that everything else now says there is NO hardware option to fix this, they seemed confused and insisted this would still cover upgrading my car's hardware to continue to work.....I go in next week now to have work done

Well let us know. All it'll take is for one person to have it done to call them out on this BS 🤷🏽
