3.0d delivery and thoughts of first drive
Hi everyone. Picked up my x5 3.0 diesel on Saturday. My vehicle was specced as follows.
Mineral white metallic with black leather M sport package Night vision Pano roof Lumbar support Storage compartment package Comfort seats front and rear Adaptive led headlights Extended light package High beam assist Surround view Proff nav system Harmon kardon 20" wheels Electric towbar. Here are a few pics My dealer was 700km away from me so I had a lovely drive back home after I picked the car. Here are some of my thoughts. Firstly the drive on this car was unbelievably smooth. I can't believe how refined this is compared to the previous generation. I really enjoyed the comfort levels. Maybe the comfort seats had something to do with this but the ride quality is superb. On the whole trip my fuel consumption was 9.0 l/100km at speeds between 140 and 160 km/h. My salesman said it will drop after a few thousand km. I had virtually zero body roll even on some twisty roads. Loved the Harmon kardon sound. Not sure if the extra for the b and o is worth it cause I have that on my m5 and the x5 sounds just as good. Lots of people commenting on how goods the mineral white looks. The colour has a beautiful hue especially in the sun and at night. Pictures don't do justice on this color. The led headlights was a real treat. Aesthetically it looks good and boy does it light up the road. I love the 20s on this car. I think anything less does injustice to the body and the ride is as comfortable as a 7 series. I also love the new touchpad system. Used it a few times already and it makes life much simpler. My kids really enjoyed the rear comfort seats. They can recline the backrest to suit them and slide them for more room. Overall I think bmw has a real winner on there hands. I looked at the ml and Porsche cayenne and I think they don't even come close to what the x5 offers. All you gents who are still awaiting delivery - you will be in for a treat when u get your vehicle. Thanks for taking time reading this. Regards |

Thanks guys for the lekker comments. Yes I was surprised about the sound as well (pleasantly). Also the x5 is still new so the speakers are not run in yet my m5 is a year old already. Go figure?

In S.A the antracite headlining comes standard if you order a sports pack.
i saw a non sport pack with the white (or cream) and it was not to my taste. the car is very roomy especially if the lining under the sunroof is in the open position. it does not feel dark at all, i think with all the aluminium trim, its more classier. |

congratulations. your x5 looks very nice. i have seen one mineral white in person and it looks fantastic. it is actually a pearl white, a common color in japan.
