Any chance you can point me in the direction of one of those??

Wife and I are looking for a pre-owned 2015 X5, ideally with MSport (but I'd settle with xLine). Been trying to work with my SA to find the car I want but feel like I'm getting no where and would love to be able to have something to bring to the table.

I think lower mileage .. 50k or under with clean carfax are still in the upper 30s low 40s. Especially led cars with premium etc

Are you saying you got $38k for a car that kbb/Edmunds said trade in value was around $33k? That's amazing. What dealership?

Not to sound like an ass, but I've done the simple homework like that. Maybe it's regional, but in the NE (PA, NJ, NY), you're not finding an M-sport with less than 40k for under $40k, more if it's certified.

I was really looking to see what they go for at auction, as that's what I'm trying to work with my SA on - I don't care if it takes me a month to find, but I want to know what he's seeing on his end so I can negotiate the deal.

Did you fly out to look at the car? I’ve heard many horror stories of people buying even CPO cars sight unseen.

I did not. But I did pay a forum member to go and check the car out for me prior to me buying it. Arrived at my doorstop without any surprises.

Never used them, but my CA recently sold a car to a guy out of state who used them and was impressed with their work. The guy ultimately bought the car.

This is all about demand and supply. I live in Tahoe and guess what- Subaru and Jeep are always about 10-25% overpriced compared even to the Bay Area, dealer or private party. If your car doesn't have 4WD or AWD- you are looking on big drop compared even to the KBB values. I lost my last car almost $4500 over the KBB private party value and both me and the new owner are happy with the price. Each specific car for each specific location is different. KBB and other web sites are giving you fair estimate but you can't judge just by the KBB value. Condition and maintenance records ,CPO plans and many other things to consider. When I was shopping for my 3.5D i've seen almost $10000 difference between the basic high mileage cars to the fully loaded 30K miles CPO once.
