Cleaning Exhaust Tips

Anyone have input on how best to clean these exhaust pipes?
Not so much the carbon, but the discoloration (yellowing) along the exhaust tip edge, particularly the driver's side.
I've tried Never Dull Metal Polish with fine steel wool, Bar Keepers Friend, ScotchBrite, but nothing works for me.
I'm no stranger to ///M exhausts, but these are very stubborn stains

Hmm I don't have any of that just the carbon which I use fine grit sand paper to clean and polish my tips.

I don't see any yellowing on mine. I just clean the exhausts tips with a towel dumpened with glass cleaner every time I wash the car. That keeps away accumulation of carbon.

Hmm...I'll try and take a pic.
Maybe I'm running too rich or I'm just too OCD and notice, but you can see the yellowing/dullness from the driver's side to the shiny/polished passenger side even after cleaning them.

Whoops! Didn't read that far...

You try it with one of the cordless drill attachments that has a polish tip?

NP...yeah, I might have to, but with <3k miles, I wouldn't think it would be necessary. Certainly thought Never Dull and steel wool would have taken care of it. I'd prefer a chemical to remove the dullness. I need to take pics. It's a strange discoloration, probably most people wouldn't even notice. But to me, I don't like how my left and right side exhaust tips aren't as equally shiny. I know...such problems I have!!

I'd rather use a polish than a chemical because you never know how much further damage a chemical will do over a polish tip

So I attempted to take some pics. Unfortunately, not the greatest, but I think it shows what I'm talking about. Red arrows show the discoloration I'm trying to remove, green arrows show the polished metal. Driver's side tips primarily affected. Last pic shows the passenger side.

Yep, I tried Never Dull and chrome polish also. But those stubborn stains will not come off and mine is 3 years older. I do prefer the original tips and have a suspicion it's the chroming process use by the OEM manufacturer. My C63 does not have this problem. Either I'll live with this or have them removed & triple chrome plated.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I never experienced this on my M4.
I'm not going to waste anymore money/time on a product to try and remove. Next time I'm at the dealer, I'll bring it up and maybe it will be warranty issue. Doesn't look like the tips are removable however?

Good question! I'll have to take a better look or maybe someone can chime in? My SA is super cool & I might bring this up as well. Good luck with your dealership visit tho

Looks like the chrome plating is coming off. Nothing you can do about that
