BMS intake sound n55

Hello my fellow x5 owners!,

I have owned n54(335)and n55 bmws (m235i) before with the bms intakes.
And the sound was intoxicating !

Now I installed the f15 n55 bms intake but there is little to no " whoosh" sound.

I do have JB4 so i am pushing more boost and it seems to be pulling pretty hard , just disappointed in the intake sound compared to my previous n55s.

Can someone tell me if theirs is quiet as well or is noticeably louder than stock?

thanks ,

Kev

Mine too is quiet. Upgrading charge pipe does help though.

the X5 has way too much sound damping material in the cabin and engine bay. 1 thing i did (in the 335) was removed cabin air intake filters along with the plastic resin tray right under the windshield. this made the intake noise super loud, almost like as if i had an gigantic aftermarket turbo. u can try this if u want, but it doesnt really suit the X5 so i did not do it to the X5.

Like I said, I have a charge pipe as well, but no sound difference with the bms intake.
Previously I had a 428i with an injen intake and it was way louder (talking about intake/turbo sound)

I ordered my chargepipe from ben r33_RGSport

He has an excellent write up/guide for installation.

I noticed my BMS intake making louder sounds immediately upon install, but only with the radio off. It's not a tremendous difference, but it does sound pretty cool if you're listening for it. I also agree in regards to installing a chargepipe, but overall it's still pretty quiet.

I made a DIY to replicate the BMS system. I feel like the noise in the front is very noticeable. The open box intakes seem to be the louder ones.
It’s not 3 series loud but to me it’s more than noticeable.

Yes, of course this is a good intake! LOL

With the high flow inlet it's one of the few that ACTUALLY increases power!

It has a filter sock that repels water as well as a filter guard you can flip around if you are uncomfortable running it open. But to be honest the amount of water you’d have to ingest to hydro lock or do any damage you’d have to park it in a lake. Remember injecting water into the intake system is what some people do along with meth - I’m not saying it’s ok to be careless but because a little water will NOT hurt, it will actually steam clean your motor and lower AIT’s as it evaporates into steam as it goes past your turbo, intercooler, charge pipe, intake manifold, past the valves, and into the combustion chamber then out the exhaust etc… it ain’t making it that far lol!
